I bet it takes 2x or 3x as long to film all of this while doing it. What a great detailed guide!

Thanks man, I'm currently reassembling a project car with tons of already unplugged and frayed wires. This was a good way to see what generally goes where!

Awesome informative video! I’m curious what plans you’ve got that required removing the engine 🤔🤔. Can’t wait!

It's an engine load leveler. In Canada I got it at Princess Auto, but if you're in the US they're available at Harbor Freight or Amazon. Makes the job much easier! Thx for the comment!

@mostlyuselessgarage Off topic here, but my nb 5 speed just developed a whine sound under load in 5th gear. Never had an issue before and changed the fluid twice already. Not sure what else it could be
@mostlyuselessgarage Жыл бұрын
My first guess for driveline noises like that are diff or trans. When you drained the trans did you filter the oil through white paper towels to see the metal particle situation? Everyone talks about using Motorcraft gear oil unicorn tears to revive a trans but I have my doubts.
@histandard31 Жыл бұрын
@@mostlyuselessgarage Didn't filter the oil, but I was using the motorcraft fluid before and that's what I put in as well and then started hearing the noise. Changed it out for redline mtl and still hearing it. Checked the ppf alignment and tried to check the u joints on the driveshaft, but it's hard to tell if they are bad. Hope that's all it is and not the trans...

If it were me I'd just send it and your next diagnosis symptom will be a box full of neutrals 😂 Seriously though in my experience 5spds are quite weak even at stock power, but they're fairly cheap. Keep an eye out for one on the used market. Or better yet upgrade to an NB2 6spd.

Mostly useless is right. Wiring for the most part only goes one place no need to label everything. Also less messy to unbolt the PS pump from the block and tie it to the side than to remove the lines and spill everywhere. Removing the harness from the injectors isn’t necessary. Created way more work for yourself. Edit. I’m an idiot. I wasn’t paying attention and heard him say injectors and made an assumption, he did it right. I apologize to the creator for that. I stand by my other points however.

If you liked those stay tuned for some real doozies in the next one!
@bakamotorworks505 Жыл бұрын
Why would you not spend the 10 minutes it takes to label everything? Especially if it’s the first time you’ve ever touched some of these connectors? Not worth the half hour spent trying to figure out what connector goes where upon reassembly. Some manufacturers use very similar connectors throughout the engine bay (ahem BMW) so this is just good practice especially considering if the car will sit for a while in pieces.
