Thank you for making this video! I used it as a guide today. But I'd say any silicone grease will work, not just the fancy one from Honda.

Yes, it's probably the same thing, but it's what everyone swears by in the Miata forums! Thanks for the recommendation!

Good complete video. I was a little scared to take out the entire window and rails. I did take off the door panel and located the window rails. I took lithium grease on my finger and hooked around the rail and coated the inside of the rail in several places.. it improved the window function greatly..

Nice video, but i agree with other commenters that it’s a bit frustrating not seeing the end result and understanding how faster the windows move compared to before this work. On a positive note, the paint on your car looks amazing. Is it really as nice as it appears in this video? Did you do any correction after you bought the car? Good luck with this series. I look forward to seeing more Miata videos.

Hey, thank you for the feedback. I remember planning on recording a before and after clip, but it totally slipped my mind that day. The windows were definitely quicker after this process of cleaning and greasing, but mostly in the way that the motors didn't sound stressed. I feel that Mazda might have underpowered the window assembly I've heard others complain they aren't as fast as most power windows. As for the paint, I did polish the whole car and was completely blown away with the results. I'll have to make a video of what process I used. One area that I have struggled to improve is the front bumper, it still is rather faded as well as the rear plastic trim the license plate sits in.

I also have a classic red (NB) Miata, so I’m curious to know how you got such great results with your paint. At least from what we see in this video, the paint looks like it’s almost in showroom condition. My windows also move slowly, (though not as slow as your driver side before greasing the tracks), and were improved by trying to clean and grease the tracks while removing the door card and vapor barrier, but not the tracks. They move at an acceptable speed now, but if they get any slower I’ll probably remove the tracks and clean and grease properly. When that day comes this video will be a useful reference.

I spent some time writing up a brief summary of the supplies I used and the process of how I got the car looking the way it does. You can view that here: hardwaylearning.com/miata-paint-correction-process/

Thanks for the video. My NB driver's side window only goes down about halfway then stops as if something is blocking it. I need to take it all apart and see what the problem is.

Hardway Learning No worries there. I’ve had door panels off a few times in the past for other things, including a Bosectomy , replacing with Alpine system. So....just ordered Delrin bushings and the Honda grease. Will make the change soon. Windows slow, driver’s doesn’t go down all the way when cold outside. Don’t like straining the window motors! I see those are just under $200 each.

Too much work! Just locate the top of the window tracks with windows down (it’s easy) and spray silicone down into the rails and along front-edge rubber gasket. A real quick fix without the tedious hassle of taking your doors apart!
