5V comes from MIB main unit. Previously it was powering the single USB port. Now it will trigger the HUB.

Which unit you have? Check SW Train in hidden menu if it starts with MHI2

Great video as always. Did you say Carplay requires the advanced USB connection, but Android Auto doesnt? I was thinking of fitting this hub to allow me to install a hidden wireless AA/Carplay device, but still be able to connect via a cable if i wanted to. My partner prefers to plug in but I don't. Sounds like it wouldn't work?

Not a bad idea actually to get best of both worlds since VAG was too stingey to implement it even in the 2020 model golf when wireless AA and car play were definitely already available because they are on an aftermarket head unit I own from Kenwood

AFAIK, generation MIB2 and MIB2.5 does not support USB-C ports.

Have you also replacede the cable between the hub and the MIB? After the hub installation carplay dosent works and I have static fault U11B800 in 5F! Someone say that I need to replace the cable with ha straight one and not HSD!

Hi, In my Passat B8 i have two USB ports from factory. After unlock of AppConnect I can use just one usb for AppConnect (CarPlay). I have done coding and adaptation as described. I guess I have the usb hub from factory, so maybe it is different version? Do you think that If i would connect the second usb port to a different port on the hub, i will be able to use it for carplay? The usb what is working is in front cubby under the climatronic, the second usb is in the armrest compartment, i want to put a carlinkit in the armrest, and have usb in front free. Can you help me? Thank you.

hi, could you please help me about something, i would like to upgrade my Golf Mk7 MIB1 to MIB2 or 2.5, the idea is to change the brain unit and the screen so i am able to add later rear view camera with turning lines and a good resolution on a logo flip could you please tell me the parts numbers i would need for the screen and the brain unit and also if wiring changes would be needed? i am aware i will have to make some coding but my first stage is to get the parts and learn as much as i can before installing them thanks in advance

@@mrfixpl Thanks. Subscribed, your videos been very helpful. 🤝🏻 2 more things before I start the fitting today: 1. Can the CP removal be done after fitting? 2. If the fitting goes wrong prior to any code changes, can you put back the old unit or will it no longer work?

1. CP can by bypassed (unit will be fully functional; there will be CP fault stored in vehicle). If you want actual removal, you need dealer-level tools and online connection to VW. 2. I believe you can.

Update on this: 1. I fitted them without removing the battery (Just key out) 2. re-fitted the old unit, no issues I've ordered OBDeleven and an SD card so I can patch it and personalise to the car tomorrow 👍

Nice, how did you secure your usb hub in the car? Did you buy the bracket to put it where it was designed to be secured to on e right of e gear shifter?
