I have a Laowa 6mm that's not fisheye but corrected to appear rectilinear. It's a lot of fun and be default focuses to nearly 0.5x, so I wonder if there is some more room by adding a bit of extension. Having such a wide angle gives a really nice result, since you are actually in the environment and lots of depth of field (but also diffraction at f/11). Almost like the probe lens.

The easiest way to focus close is with a macro Teleconverter, although you will lose a little sharpness, it is not much It would be something like near 1:1 12mm

Another 'trick' I have used is to use a fisheye that comes in M42 screw thread rather than the mount for your camera. Then place a circular shim of craft foam between the lens and the adapter and tighten down so it does not shake. There is a limit to how much you can extend before the lens is not held securely but it allows wide macro that is sharp close but not inside the lens. It does not take much and stopped down a lot gets sharp.

Hi Michael I love your channel! I have a sony A7 IV with the 90mm macro. I was thinking of buying the 14 mm 1.8 to shoot the sky. Do you think that if I add an extension tube I will be able to shoot some wide angle macros as well?

my man.. I find it so cool that this perspective is so rare and nobody is talking about it. I have an a7siii camera, is this combination of the 12mm astrhori and 10mm ex tube covers the hole frame ? I have also the 14mm gm but you cannot focus so close to the subject, do you believe I could test it with the 10mm ex tube ? Greetings from Greece, thank you

the fisheye lens is definitely still being used in the Skateboard industry..the industry standard skate camera right now is a Panasonic HVX-200/HPX-170 with a Century Optics Xtreme 0.5x fisheye...

I wonder if Laowa 15mm F2 would work with 10mm extension tube. It would make it a perfect wide angle macro lens + astrophotography lens. Is there any way to check it mathematically?

Why not just get the Laowa 15 macro?

Please think twice about getting a new camera for video. The current one that you use already produces great results and people likely won't be able to tell the difference once you do get a new camera. The studio and the lighting will be around 98% of improving your look, so to speak, so a new camera is a waste of money imo. With the current camera I can already pretty much count all the hairs on your face, so a newer camera is probably the difference of moving the sharpen slider a bit less in your video editor.
