Item 1, thanks so much for the Super Thanks! Item 2, I think your opinion about Subaru design is totally reasonable. They're one of those brands whose products are distinct but not necessarily attractive.

I do use the aux on my 2018 124 Spider. I have an aftermarket carplay/android auto unit that I play through that aux jack because the audio quality is noticeably better on the bose system in that car than bluetooth is.

For the 2024 models, Subaru still offers a CD player, and it installs in the center console storage compartment. Hopefully, they'll continue to offer it in the 2025 models.

Ground clearance reminds me of my old 2002 Bugeye WRX. I'd head to work (early morning before a ton of plowing in the apartment complex) and that thing was a champ plowing itself through the lot as long as it wasn't more than a foot or so deep.

I had a 2022 that I preordered before it hit dealers so I had one of the first off the line. Overall I liked the car but the rattles in mine drove me insane. I think being such an early run, mine had more than a usual Subaru. I eventually dropped the headliner myself and found the sunroof bolts not fully tightened allowing the washer on the bolt to rattle around. Also, windshield had to be replaced under warranty due to the seals creaking loudly in cold weather. There were many other rattles I couldn’t find. I loved how the car drove though. Did wish mpg was better. Subaru allowing only certain options in 2022 on the GT (which could only be a CVT) annoyed me. In the end though, with this review, $45k for a non STI WRX is crazy

Please stop dissing the aux-in already. It takes next to no space and some people like it. With so many non-functional blank "buttons" littering the cabin of so many cars, there's really no need to pick on a functional aux-in.
@kMan000012 күн бұрын
But an excellent review as usual.
@afcgeo8822 күн бұрын
Let’s just start dissing the people that like the AUX port. There’s no even-remotely-modern device that doesn’t work far better with a USB.
@santiagohills39972 күн бұрын
I think it’s interesting, and not “dissing” at all-it’s genuinely curious. Someone has done the math at Subaru and concluded that keeping the aux port makes them enough sales to justify the $0.50 per vehicle cost.
@afcgeo8822 күн бұрын
@ I suspect that this actually comes from not wanting to re-design their system. I don’t think there’s a single person on this planet who chose the Subaru over another car because of the AUX input in the last 15 years.
@momsbasement65623 сағат бұрын

I owned an 06 STI in black with gold BBS wheels and the big fast and furious spoiler.. That was a really cool, fun, car.. I think that generation is the last one i would have ever bought in wrx/sti trim.. The newest one feels really fat.. it looks huge too if you park it side by side with that generation.. I guess i should be glad it exists at all, but part of me wishes it died with that generation and it's dignity..
@NoBettaFetaКүн бұрын
Not an STi they just decided to load it up with the blue accents usually reserved for the old STi’s and say the tS is “tuned by STi” 😂 Such a tease from Subaru!

Where’s the roll cage
@boost3312 күн бұрын
Well that sure is "something". Its no STI. Its not good enough to wear the badge, and it is waaaay too dang expensive. That is an absurd amount of money for a couple cheap bolt on upgrades. Just buy a premium trim and mod to your liking. You will have a better car for much cheaper.
@waykool69820 сағат бұрын
If you want the best factory car, this is it. Not everybody is out there, wrenching on their cars.
@boost33120 сағат бұрын
@waykool698 "Best" is a relative term. If by that you mean "most expensive", then sure. This is supposed to be a track focused "race ready" Subaru. In that sense, the intended buyer IS ACTUALLY the type who will be out there wrenching on their car. But the sad reality is people buy thing like this just to LOOK like they are track guys. They want the image, not all the actual work and effort of racing and maintaining a track car. If you arent willing to put in the work, why would you buy this to begin with? Its no better than the base model if you arent going to actually do sports car things with it.

This car makes absolutely no sense at this price point. Why would anyone in their right mind buy this over a one year old Lexus IS
@leoanajamiesonКүн бұрын
Granted the Lexus is prettier. However, it has less power and the exhaust doesn't sound nearly as good. I have a 2024 wrx and I can't imagine myself having more fun in a Lexus.

Subaru forgot how to make STIs and it’s sad. 20 year old cars are faster than their modern counterparts
@josebelisario9669Күн бұрын
How much do you think an STI would cost today? If they make it more powerful than that competition (Golf R, GR) then it can likely be North of 50k. With WRX sales numbers, it's almost a miracle we even got a new Gen. It doesn't seem worth it to them.
@gothops154Күн бұрын
@ a lot less than you think. And even if they sold it for $50k, if it was a REAL STI, plenty of people would buy it. Either way doesn’t excuse the fact that they’re putting out cars slow than their *20 year old* counter parts. We get more efficient at making things as time goes on, not worse
@josebelisario9669Күн бұрын
@ How a lot less? The GT and the tS are in the mid 40's with the same power figures. The full Sti treatment with the differentials AND a power bump would not be less than 50k. Adding power every generation is costly, which obviously gets passed down to the consumer. They already did their homework with this new motor that shines with mods so go that route. As if enthusiasts ever leave their car stock anyway.
@gothops154Күн бұрын
@ yea they used to make them for $30k and now they totally forgot how to make any car over 300hp

Subaru killed the base because everyone was buying the base and it has almost no profit margin on it. WRXs are FAR more expensive everywhere outside of N. America, so they make profits there.
