The reason your dremel was taking forever is because *you're using the wrong type of blade in it.* That sort of course-tooth saw blade is intended for cutting _wood and plastic,_ not metals. For metal, you really should be using a metal cutoff wheel instead. I suspect if you did that it would actually go about as fast as the angle grinder, and be a lot easier to work with... Also, a suggestion: Instead of messing about with the hammer and chisel and trying to pry the shell open, just cut all the way through down one side, flip it over, and cut down the other side (or maybe even just score it), then pull the two halves apart.
