I actually studied this in sports medicine. Burficts hit destroyed his prefrontal cortex. The hit was actually made directly to that area of his head and that portion of the brain is responsible for decision making and cognitive behavior. And it’s actually the last part of the brain to develop and he barely reached the age of when the brain reaches full development. It essentially turned him from a rational and mature adult in to a 13 year old child. And what’s sad is that the NFL will never allow that information to be released because it would hurt the sport and their brand.

Perhaps from our outside perspective as fans, yes, he was more quiet and to himself from say 2010-2015. But there were still reports of him verbally attacking Dick LeBeau at training camp in 2012, him only getting offered a scholarship to Central Michigan, his scouting report listing him as a “diva”, his step father stating in an interview with USA Today that AB was basically a problem since he was 12 years old, etc. It’s not always as it seems on the surface.
