John Lorton Fines are very common, excessive actually, but ejections and suspensions for bad behavior are rare. Dude has to go to the extremes to get ejected and suspended. And a lot of suspensions get overturned or reduced. Legit question. What is the appropriate punishment for beating a player in the head with his own helmet??

John Lorton Easily assault with a deadly weapon. If his arm hadn’t of been slowed down and/or the helmet had been at a slightly different angle, dude would be breathing through a tube right now. Shit can get intense and players are going to go after each other occasionally but going out of your way to intentionally injury players like that should be a lifetime ban. Anyone that does that shit shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the field.

By the rules of the NFL at the time he was in a designated zone for non-play staff, in a place the Miami gunner was prohibited from entering, and further not required to yield his position - but the whole flexing of the knee was definitely unsportsmanlike - and his trying to defend himself in the media was a mistake.
