Yo I love Issa she says Exactly what you’re thinking. As soon as Michael b Jordan was like black panther will dismantle the stereotype types black Americans and African have for each other and then stating he doesn’t even know where the stereotypes comes from or how it started. I immediately said to myself white supremacy. Then Issa says not a second after I said it to myself she says with a straight face “yeah white people started that shit” I almost fell out. Because it’s true I’m so glad my fellow African sister knows her history

You can be part of social media's cybersphere and the opportunities it brings while not letting social media colonize you, lose empathy for others and alienate you from your self. Kudos to MBJ for wanting to establish legacy in his craft without sacrificing his authenticity for a cheque in a world which eats its young. Speaks to groundedness, emotional clarity, purpose and positivity.

Funny thing about black panther though as a Nigerian American I have some grips about the film. To me t’challa really represented the ideals of Africans not wanting to mingle with black Americans, keeping to themselves focus on school and become successful. all the while turning a blind eye to systemic racism and killmonger repped the plight of the black Americans. Growing up as a first generation Nigerian American. I had the up bringing of staying within the culture not mingling with black Americans. Then I got older went to college and developed ideologies like killmonger. having so much anger and truly seeing what white supremacy has done and continues to do. My gripe with black panther was it pointed out the differences between black Americans and Africans though not really, it didn’t really show African culture ( African culture is more than traditional garb and accents) plus in the end all it did was villainize the one character that wanted to empower the black nation as a whole. To me killmonger was the hero. But no t’challa the “hero” decides to take the power that the Africans had and distribute it all over the world??? (Mind you what makes countries powerful is their military and weapons. Last African countries that had nuclear weapons gave them up smh) Which makes no sense when white countries are already powerful by exploiting Africans taking African resources with giving anything in return. Continuing to make African nations weaker. T’challa decides to build some recreation center in the projects smh So silly. The projects have shit like that the real issues was deeper. Anyway it was nice seeing a little moving deprecating a African comic book hero buuuut the character was created by a white guy and it was pretty obvious. At the end of the day it was done in Hollywood which is pretty racist. So there’s no way they’ll let a film address and fight systemic racism/white supremacy
@detectivehawk49762 жыл бұрын
Interesting take. I feel like you have a lot of great points. T’challa and Killmonger were both flawed and both actually had very valid points in their previous ideals. But did you watch the movie? How is Killmonger the villain? The man didn’t care about anyone but himself and his agenda. Willing to kill the people closest to him in order to get his goal. And killed for sport. He was blinded by his own pain of growing up without his father and his fathers family rejecting him. Killmonger shows a lot of the negative aspects of the black community. Especially when it comes to black men. Tchalla was at least able to have compassion for Killmonger in the end and even learn from his ideals. Building a recreation center was a great start obviously it’s just a 2 hour movie and a Disney Marvel Superhero movie at that so of course they aren’t gonna go into super deep detail. But the movie was a great start to highlight some serious issues. Also it’s not just about weapons, Wakanda had technology and intelligence that could save millions of lives especially black/Africans.I’d say there’s no real one hero in the movie. Everyone played their role. But for Tchalla to learn and have compassion for his enemies (Including Mbaku) and be humble enough to change his views especially when he doesn’t have to. He’s for sure A hero
