He is perfect! People who don’t understand the smile have not experienced the heartbreaking experience of having to pretend think are fine and will work out when there is no hope…. Ball shows a depth of emotion and understanding that is beautiful. Been there so I know how it feels and this song breaks my heart.

Lea Salonga is the only Eponine I have ever heard who actually hits the low notes in this song. Everybody else kind of breathes them, which, as someone who CAN hit those notes, always irks me just a touch. Yay Lea! :-)

@CrazywafflezZ He's trying to comfort her. She's convinced that everything will be already, you know? And rain will make the flowers grow, and stuff like that. He's smiling to make her feel better. Michael Ball just went a little too goofy with it. But his purpose was to comfort her, to make her believe that things would become better.

Lea hits the low notes which sounds beautiful but sam sings the low notes as a breath because she wants to sound in pain and like shes dying. don't get me wrong I love lea's version but don't bring sam into this just because you prefer lea. They both sing it differently and beautifully and I love them both! Leave sam out of it!
