I'm Italian and Ballack is one of the first footballers I kinda fell in love with. He got all my sympathy because he has been really unlucky with his clubs and national team; apart from that, he was a complete midfielder, a joy to watch. I really miss him.
@trupiil6 жыл бұрын
Respect from germany to your players as well, like Baggio, Del Piero, Totti.
@dissect1233 жыл бұрын
He was hated amongst his teammates because he was unable to integrate himself into any team. You can see in the video that most of his goals were penalties, which is rather unimpressive and there was not a single goal against a big team. To sum it up: An average player with average skill and a horrendous personality. Good riddance.
@teteskone413 жыл бұрын
@@dissect123 This is just a compilation of goals with his national team. Check recaps of his club goals, you'll notice a wider range of skills. I'm not stating Ballack was the best, he just impressed me a lot. About his temper I can clearly recall his argument with Podolski against Wales, when Lukas slapped him after being scolded for poor running. You're right, I can easily figure Ballack being difficult to train for his coach and difficult to bear for his teammates.
@christiangwenner63842 жыл бұрын
@@dissect123 This is actually so far beyond any reality that I don't even know how and if I should answer it. From 2002, when Oliver Kahn described the team as harmonious as he had never experienced it, until 2008, Ballack was by far the strongest field player and the one the others cheered on when they lost heart. It was Löw and Lahm, who was the real bad apple of this team, who called him out when injured because they lacked the self-confidence to accept a strong leader on the field. Two little men with too big fragile egos. When it comes to football, things are even clearer. Ballack was the strongest German player of the last 30 years. He scored fewer goals for the national team because he had to play a lot more defensively there than at club level, putting himself behind the team's success. The tragedy is that he played in an era when there was not enough help. Then again, that's exactly why he shaped the team back then like few before and no one after him.
@christiangwenner63842 жыл бұрын
@@teteskone41 You shouldn't back down too far from your initial comment. Ballack was indeed old school and maybe not always easy to work with, but he was loved by players like Frings, Kahn, Schneider, who can't praise him enough to this date, looked up to by guys like Schweinsteiger and, most importantly, carried that team through a time, in which there wasn't always much help for him. When the time came and he got injured shortly before WC 2010, Löw and Lahm pushed him aside in the most ungrateful way imaginable. But Löw wanted to emancipate himself from the shadow of Klinsmann, who had looked at Ballack as his general on the pitch. Löw not disciplining Podolski, who was a fan and media favorite at that time, after slapping his captain is a prime example of Löws lack of leadership. But weak men never allow strength beside them. Finally, when it comes to football. Ballack was the whole package. Power, grace, an eye for the game, the strongest will and one of the strongest shots and the best headers in decades. Michael Ballack has been the best player of the last 30 years. And it's a shame people forget their heroes just so quickly.

@christiangwenner63842 жыл бұрын
