Amazing player and modest guy. I learn as much as I can about being a good player and person from him. He should be a role model for a lot of young musicians.

Got to sit right in front of him and David Sanborn in 1975 in a small jazz club in Milwaukee. Our sax player met him at the club the next day to let him try out his Stratham mpc.

Actually, he was diagnosed with MDS in 2005... If the description is right, that is 7 years after this performance. Still, I agree he was pouring his heart and soul into this. Simply amazing. I will never stop listening to it.

This is one of the best videos of Mike. What a soulful rendition with emotion and mastery of the horn. I miss him...always something fresh and new. Those who say he was just an automaton can't play tenor. In their dreams they wish this talent was flowing within them! Thank you so much for posting this!!!

In concert pitch, he's stacking Bmaj7 on top of Bb+. On tenor, the notes from the bottom up would be: C, E, G#, C, Db, F, Ab, C. He changes it up, but those are the first set.

For those who don't like his use of technicality, listen to his final album, "Pilgrimage." He's more melodic and (in my opinion) far more expressive then ever. By far his best playing. Ever. He really went out in a blaze of glory with that record.

@TheSlidemonster George died, went to heaven, and met up with the big band practice in the sky. There were guys like Freddie Hubbard, John Coltrane, JJ, and Max Roach on the band stand. There was one trumpet player George didn't notice though, so he turned to basie and asked, who's that strange guy over there? "Thats God, he likes to think he is Miles Davis"
@DirtyRed Жыл бұрын
Although Coltrane was the pioneer. In my honest and truly unbiased opinion. Brecker was the MASTER. The GOAT. Ain't nobody better. The technique and skill is unmatched. Your music will live forever.

One day M Brecker was asked by a journalist : 'Michael, how does it feel to be the best saxophonist on hearth ?'. Michael answered : 'I dont know. Maybe you should ask Jerry Bergonzy'. Michael was an incredible master and nevertheless he remained modest and respectful. RIP Mike.

megaman1da,people experience feel ,emotion independently through themselves and is individually adjusted in the brain through experience of their past,conditioning /learningschool of getting habituated with cultural aspects whitch music is,so having no feel is just their judgement of structured noise of the moment in time,having no emotion ,only,whitch happens more often ,far more often ,than having emotion,feel
