Michael was raised a Southern Baptist in Alabama. At an early age he felt a calling to ministry. Through his college experiences he was introduced to Pentecostal spirituality. Ordained a Pentecostal minister, he eventually encountered the Charismatic Episcopal Church and was ordained a priest in that denomination. His love deepened for the Catholic Church and, after a 15 year journey, he was received into full communion with the Catholic Church.

I was raised Southern Baptist. When we were stationed overseas, my parents sent me to an Assembly of God Christian School. I wanted what they had but it never came. One day, at 12 years old, I went into a Catholic church. There was no mass taking place, but just like this guy, there was something there. I remember thinking that this must be what heaven was like. That was 1978. I became Catholic last Easter. MiF

I doubt that first caller was even a Catholic in the first place. Catholics are never thought that all we need is the scripture nor are we taught to hate other religion.

Whentalking to Evangelical s about the real. Ptedece of Of our Lotd in the Eucharist they will l say that the presence is their Church too be ausr they will say that Jesus is always at their Church. At all of their service s be cause whenever there if 2 or more gathered I n His name He is always there so they believe tHeEucharisticre anyway so I Gus's they feel the Eucharist is superlfulous so they don't believe in the r prescefence in our Eucharist! .. How do you respond to that???

Christine Cubbon When Christ said, "For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. "He was speaking in a spiritual sense, not literal presence, as He is in the Eucharist. Secondly, if you read the context of the passage, He's addressing the Apostles (those in authority), and of those who belong to the true Church. Then you ask them to read [Malachi 1:11]. "For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts." The word in Hebrew for 'offering' is 'ū·min·ḥāh", and it means gift, oblation, meat offering, present, sacrifice. ask your protestant friends where this is found in their worship services? Then ask them to read[ Hebrew 3:10-15], Verse 10 mentions an altar. Verse 15 reads, "through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that openly profess his name." If you read the greek, the word for 'praises' actually means a thank-offering, and the greek word for sacrifice in the verse mean "a sacrifice, victim". (so ask your protestant friends if they have an altar where a victim is offered in thanksgiving and praise to the Father?) - and tell them to read Malachi 1:11 again. Then show them, In [1 Corinthians 10:16-21], St. Paul says the following: "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not [a participation in the blood of Christ]? The bread which we break, is it not a [participation in the body of Christ]? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. Consider the people of Israel; are not those who eat the sacrifices partners in the altar? What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. {notice the table is referred to as an altar} St. Paul also speaks about the reality of Jesus' body and blood in the Eucharist, in [1 Corinthians 11:23-30]: "For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner [will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord]. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died." - (ask your friends how do you profane the body and blood if the Lord if it's justas symbol?) Then go to the Gospel Passages: Matthew 26:26-28 "Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is my body." And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Luke 22:19 "And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." IMPORTANT - the greek word for 'remembrance' (anamnēsin) in this passage is the same greek word used in the greek translation of the Hebrew bible: (Leviticus 24:7) "And you shall put pure frankincense on each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire to the LORD." and the same greek word is used in, (Numbers 10:10) "Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God." Both (Leviticus 24:7) & (Numbers 10:10) use the same greek word as in (Luke 22:19 & 1 Corinthians 11:24-25) and they refer to the offering of sacrifice, a memorial offering to God. The same greek word is used again in (Hebrews 10:3) "But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year." - again, it refers to the offering of sacrifice before the Lord. " Then go over John 6: 30-66 with them. Then explain the old animal sacrifices of the altar have now been replaced by the one pure sacrifice of the altar, Jesus Christ, as foretold in Malachi 1:11. It is the re-presentation of the sacrifice of Calvary.

What happened to "You shall not make unto yourself any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth". You can't make excuses and continue to do what the Bible tells you not to do.

+M Gennaro that has nothing to do with Catholicism. We don't worship graven images. They are reminders of those who lived heroic lives that we hope to emulate. Hope this clarifies a common misunderstanding.

How is idolatry if you make images of Our Lord and His family. Catholics do not worship the image but rather use them to direct their prayers to Jesus
