It's just a clean aerodynamical design, that's why it looks so timeless. This bodyshell can safely run at 400kph, just as long as you give an engine that has enough power, rear main gear that is 'long' enough. It's a shame General Motors gave a red light to Pontiac 4.9 Turbo engine, because it would mean the 3rd gen Turbo Trans Am, would from the start have as much power as late iteration Trans Am GTA, and by mid 80s it would have had 400HP. Trans Am would have moped floor with Corvette. But that's how corporations work. If they could they would produce no innovation for 1000 years.

All I know is, growing up as a pre-teen in the 80s and seeing this show as well as the show "Airwolf" was bananas! I know some people make fun of the cheesiness, heck even I look at some of the scenes now and think to my adult self: "SPM should have left a trail of debris behind them like Neo everywhere they went." lol, but you gotta admit this show was amazing for the time.

I am so very glad that the older gentlemen were in knight rider. The reason being that they made the program what it was,simply fantastic ! I remember seeing a video in the early days of YT where a guy had the clip of the pilot where Michael says "Why do I got a feeling this isnt gonna be the last time I run into trouble in this town?" And the video says "Maybe cause you're a fucking idiot?". Now that I think of it I see what the video meant. They turned Michael from some great young detective Wilton found into the worst investigator ever. He has to get saved by KITT in every situation. If it wasn't for KITT he would be long dead. Originally it was KITT was supposed to be the big gun NEEDED against big guys like Tanya, the whole of Comtron etc. So it makes sense if Michael has difficulties against them. Not when its just some small time bank robbers instead.

It's been so many years since I saw this show, but I thought in season 4 when he got super pursuit mode KITT also lost his molecularly bonded shell, did he get it back at some point because he's apparently still bullet proof near the start of this clip with that gun booby-trap. Appparently googling it there are threads noticing the same thing that KITT is bulletproof again. To be fair with how often they get into gunfights and how much tech is in KITT /not/ being bulletproof would be unsustainable as it's likely any bullet would damage some possibly critical(and expensive) system. So KITT either /has/ to be bulletproof or never get into any firefights or anything else where KITT could be damaged.
