Stivi, you're always an inspiration to me, your color mixing is one of the best parts of your videos! The perylenes are some of my favorite all-time colors. They're active wet in wet, they have great texture and the moodiness of their colors is wonderful for painting this time of year. Thanks again for a great video.

YOU are also a source of inspiration for me. Your kindness encourages me to develop more valuable content. The entire Perylene range is such a mood, it is a vibe that perfectly captures the beauty of the cold-weather months. They're dramatic and soothing to look at, especially these ones from Michael Harding Watercolours. I keep them on my palette all the time, although I have to admit that until now, I am still warming up to PR179. My heart still belongs to PR206 when it comes to Maroon-leaning pigments. As always, thank you for being here!

Just being curious but would you say that Michael Harding are in your top ranked professional watercolour brands? All their colours that you swatch seem lovely. I’ve been slowly purchasing a few tubes. Thanks again for the wonderful swatching video
@stiviwonders Жыл бұрын
@lmac_z Absolutely! Michael Harding is an artist and a colour man. His oil paints, and now his watercolors, carry his passion for pigment power, purity, handling ability, and vibrancy. You will experience that with every paint tube. A little bit goes a long way. His paints are robust and represent pigment sophistication that's quite a rarity in this industry.

Another great video, really interesting. I love seeing the mixes at the end. My usual go to brand is Daniel Smith but I will have to try Michael Harding, such beautiful colours in this video, especially the maroon.

Glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you! Decent watercolors are everywhere. However, excellent watercolors such as Michael Harding Watercolours are a rarity. I love the maroon color also @MHPaints maroon pigments have the richness, intensity, and vibrancy that are suitable for all sorts of painting themes.

Beautiful. And wonderful mixed. One thing I think recalling is that Michael Harding’s yellow lakes were not super lightfast, in case other yellows in their range were better mixers.
@stiviwonders Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Hmmm, that's a first. Yellow Lake has an Excellent rating and Yellow Lake Deep sits at "Very Good" so they're within the spectrum of acceptable levels of permanence. ;-) Yes, other yellows would work great too! As always, thank you for being here!

All of the Perylenes are my absolute favorites. From every brand. Hands down. Just something about them. Even though green is my favorite color (that beautiful Kelly green to be exact) and Roman Szmal's Autumn Green and Daniel Smith's Serpentine Genuine are my favorite greens in watercolor...........IDK, those Perylene colors just do it for me!
@stiviwonders Жыл бұрын
I am drawn to them as well. They make it convenient to convey emotion and depth. Thank you again for being here!

Is Serpentine thought to be a perylene? It's my only primatek and I wondered what pigment is really "helping" the ground mineral
@stiviwonders Жыл бұрын
@@NicoleLan622 That's an interesting take! Serpentine's olive green appearance doesn't suggest so though. Isn't it it's supposed to be "genuine" Serpentine? 😜

I don't enjoy these colors much but as you said, they are indeed so great for mixing!
@stiviwonders Жыл бұрын
That's fair. I find that they are excellent on their own but their beauty comes out more as "companions" for other pigments. The result is always sophisticated. Lovely seeing you here, as always!

I love the perelenes I've tried, the only thing I don't like is the dramatic drying shift; thye just lose so much saturation and vibrance as they dry. Is perelen crimson as bad as the others? I do love my earth oranges, and I've been thinking of trying it to see how it compares with transparent pyrrol orange.
@stiviwonders Жыл бұрын
I can feel your frustration because I've been there too. That's why these Perylenes from Michael Harding Watercolours bring me so much joy every time I use them. They are absolutely exquisite, including their Perylene Crimson! The dull, drying shift may be true for other brands but not for these ones. I tend to avoid being prescriptive on this channel because I want to be respectful of other people's color journey but if you are able to, I highly recommend giving these ones a try. Their individual attributes are compelling reasons to have them. It is also worth mentioning that the Transparent Pyrrol Orange from another manufacturer is definitely leaning towards a different direction. I hope this is helpful!
@lmac_z Жыл бұрын
You just answered a question for me, as I was wondering about the drying shift. They seem not to dull as much as other brands but difficult to compare via video. This is fabulous infuriation. 😊
