I've been listening to the "You're Wrong About" Podcast with him and Sarah Marshall for almost 2 years, and Michael Hobbes looks nothing like what I imagined what he would look like. (not better or worse...just pictured him differently) Its a great Podcast, and I recommend it to anyone looking to listen to something culturally interesting.

This was painful to watch. Michael and the other hosts were speaking completely different languages. Micheal is a god damned angel, he is such a wealth of knowledge and they wasted having such a great guest on. Their questions were giving "make coffee at home and stop buying avocado toast" vibes. So incredibly tone deaf. Micheal, thank you for sticking to your guns during this incredibly cringy interview, we don't deserve you!!

THIS. The interviewers start off with a sense of “How can I be more financially responsible” which like really irks me????student debt is such a catastrophic problem that we shouldn’t even be diagnosing it on a personal level bc it shifts the dialogue away from the cause of the problem.

I love that Michael isn't trying to give us tips on saving because he just openly understands that we're fucked. 😎 I think Casey's side hustle thing is pretty ableist where Michael is saying unionize. I can barely maintain one full time job plus commute plus single parenthood plus chronic physical and mental illness plus being neurodivergent, it's ALL energy sucking. There isn't time of day unless you're at some level of privelege.

Adding more work ("side hustle!") to the daily burden of living and working full time is not an answer, Casey. I appreciate the hope in the sentiment, but there is no way millennials can overcome the oppressively systematic economic infrastructure in this country by working 6 contract or gig jobs a year. I've tried.

I feel like Michael is trying to bring attention to the fact that this is a much bigger and complicated issue than just “millennials don’t know how to save money” but everyone else is trying to come up with really shallow and obvious ideas that ultimately do not help in a meaningful way lmao.... I love Michael and his podcast "you're wrong about," with Sarah Marshall, but Mike and Casey are the only ones who seem to have an ideas, all the other people seem so helpless. The victim mentality is dangerous, there are probably less opportunities for solid jobs that a family can be raised on, but that's not to say they don't exist. Figuer it out. Yes Mike is correct that we shouldn't need a side hussle if we have a well paying job, but until that's achieved, and even after to get ahead, yes young people should have the energy for a side hussle.
