Im my opinion it is the best sequencer track, I have ever listened too. Much better than Tangerine Dream or Klaus Schulze at this time. It is what I call a "composition" and more: it is pure cosmic music. Too me this track is still unbelievable...

"Departure from The Northern Wasteland" shows the complete panopticum of his inexhaustible and unfathomable skills! What a master of electronic music and nevertheless only known to the early berlin electronic fans. It's really a pity, that he only issued two records.

He also is a member of the band Agitation Free - see "Shibuya Nights" live in Japan from 2007. His atmospheres are all over that record. Definitely also worth tracking down "Early Water" with Manuel Gottsching and there's a live recording on an electronic music compilation called "The Vertical Rotating Horizon" which is a live concert recording of Hoenig performing a piece (on Synclavier and other synths) with Don Preston (on EWI and Yamaha DX-7) at a live in Japan concert put on by the Goethe Institute. Turns out Preston had broken both his legs the last day of rehearsals so he performed the series of concerts in Japan and Korea in a wheelchair! The actual live concert using a Synclavier was one of the first times those had been taken on the road and apparently taking a hard drive of samples wasn't widely known so just bringing that beast through customs must have been a task and a half.

I hear similarities to Tangerine Dream's Adelaide 1975 concert in this piece, for obvious reasons. Very interesting to hear Michael Hoenig's contributions to that concert and to TD's sound. Thanks for sharing.

For Hoenig fans - somewhere out there - there is a promotional cut of this album - and from what I recall having heard it once or twice only - way back in the 80's - good quality too. Hard to believe it's not yet appeared anywhere on YT. And Bernard - best sequence track (outside of Dream etc) in my opinion is Hanging Garden Transfer - here Mr Hoenig has so many plates spinning but keeps the piece on course is simply just an art form. My fave of yours by the way has to be Different Feelings from Stadtgargen. Very nice.
