Divided people and lumped together people groups who didn’t speak the same language or have the same culture into countries of today guaranteed to create wars. Removed progressive governments, dictate the price of materials… [fair trade exists because trading is unfair. ] Farmers that grow cocoa for example live in extreme poverty in a multi billion pound industry, it is structured that way. The history you learned makes it ok for you to say people are tolerated and see it as a good thing !

What a legend. Michael , your last few interviews on BLM and racism has truly hit a nerve in my soul. Your eloquent and honest feedback on how real racism is , is an example to us all. I wish that all South African cricketers , past and present have taken note , and that they come out in support. black and white, they can learn from you. As we are the epitome of institutional racism and our cricket is a microcosm if that !! You leader ! You legend!

This didn't feel forced. This wasn't the 'shoving it down the throat' approach that a lot of recent stuff feels like. This is how the conversation should go.
@mattpears14024 жыл бұрын
One side sounding off without being challenged? You should read the Yale study he referenced, the black teachers were watching the black kids more and the spread was hardly the constant monitoring he claimed. There were also noted in the limitations section highlighting any movement the child actors made outside of the exercise could have affected the teachers looking at them. These are dangerous times and all people need to be careful what they're saying, is a study that's 4 years old an accurate reflection of today?
@SuperKimjong4 жыл бұрын
@@mattpears1402 - so the racial bias is now ok because the black teachers also exhibited those traits? That's just clearer evidence that it's systemic and learned behavior. 42% of the teachers said the black boy needed attention. You think Michael Holding is saying anything controversial in his statements? You really think much has changed in 4 years? Ferguson happened in 2014. The exact same thing is happening right now. Doesn't appear like much change. Any way, what is there to challenge. What is the 'other side' to the debate. That black lives don't matter?
@adamadams73144 жыл бұрын
SuperKimjong For a start, racial bias is not systemic. Racism is as old as different races interacting. Racism has been prevalent throughout in different societies and civilisations for 1000s of years. My problem with the Black Lives Matter movement is that nobody makes clear what they’re protesting and if you go on the BLM website, you can see the intentions behind what it’s become. But as the website is the only thing suggesting any outcomes wanted, I’m forced to assume that is what is wanted. The website is just Marxist propaganda, which is very dangerous.
@brokenbutterfly31784 жыл бұрын
@@adamadams7314 this whole movement makes me feel like I've done something wrong. Like I'm guilty for something which is why I don't support it.
@pauljarvis9024 жыл бұрын
@@adamadams7314 Racism has been around for 1000s of years so we should just accept it? The human race wouldn't have got very far with that attitude. I can't see anywhere on their website where they claim to be Marxist either.

Not to take anything away from Micheal and Nasser - thoughtful legends, both - but Ebony's calm dissection of the stats at the top and vision for the future was a masterclass. And following on from the raw emotion of the first interview - thank you for educating us by opening up to the world and showing the pain you have suffered - so incredibly brave. Beautifully articulated by both gentlemen, particularly Mikey! The point about going back to history is critical. I was very surprised, for instance, about how little some of my English friends (all genuinely good human beings btw, without a bone of racism in their bodies) knew about the horrors of English colonialism, simply because they were never taught about it in school.

Two of my favourite commentators! The clarity with which they speak, and not just on cricket, is a complete contrast to the rubbish we have in Asia, despite all the passion and the rich cricket heritage. Wish we see such conversations in India, other than the useless stats that the broadcasters keep throwing up!
@sharmapratyush0074 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you. I just want to make two points clear to you: 1. Racism is certainly about the color of the skin but, it doesn't stop there. Discrimination based on religion and caste (prevalent problems in India and South Asia) are steeped and come from the same mental state. 2. The pic of the man that you have as your profile pic, he and his party (BJP) along with its ideological father (RSS) have and are singularly responsible for destroying the the social and moral fabric of India. Let's reconcile these facts and then talk about other things and places.
@EngineerInMotion4 жыл бұрын
this kind of open and free speech is not welcomed in india because the nationalist government doesn't allow it. In india, its an issue of religious discrimination and not racial but many of the same points that Michael Holding made apply to Muslims in India. The culprit of this is your profile picture who had hundreds of muslims killed in the Gujrat riots and encouraged violence. Just like Michael Holding said, education and knowledge of historical events is the only thing that will resolve all forms of discrimination.
