Yes I agree I was lucky enough to see Clive Lloyd Alvin kallichrean viv Richards Dennis Lille Jeff Thompson and Gregg Chappell in the lords 1975 World Cup final. Both teams went on to become magnificent over the years. Viv Richards hitting six over extra cover and Jeff Thompson sling shot 100 mph bouncers. O what joy to see.

Always remembered the Holding vs Boycott event at Kensington Oval. A tenacious Boycott who would bat for days versus the quickest bowler that I had ever seen. Loved his opinions too as an announcer. All around great human. Carry on smartly!

I built my first radio and only one to hear cricket in 1975, in Australia, his first match no wickets, but the spectators, saw talent with the bat he scored 34 runs and people was calling him Rowe, however, after that series where the WI got white wash 5 to 1, things changed, today the WI is so mediocre I erase cricket from my memory, Thanks to Holding, and the real WI players, who took the game seriously, the others players today are so money hungry, and no respect for the game, not to single out anyone, Kraigg Brathwaite, and company are not of cricket Calibre, hogwash players... Thanks again Mike, and company for a well done job. .(WI 6 FEET UNDER THESE DAYS)😢

As 12 yo we travelled to Melbourne’s MCG with Dad to watch the Windies train before the 1 day matches where we got all the autographs and they chatted to us kids. They were so friendly as Michael Holding would chat to us and asked if we played cricket. On match days we found a way to sneak into the MCC members under the wire fence between the stands. We would wait outside the dressing room after the match and one night they got beaten by Pakistan and I think it was Larry Gomes had his teeth smashed. We saw Michael Holding past the huge doorman and yelled out to him and to our shock he said to the West Indies doorman “It’s cool man let those kids in, they’re with me”!!!! We were 3 kids in absolute awestruck by our heroes. We walked out of the MCG late after the game with Michael and he introduced us to Viv, Malcolm Marshall, Desmond Haynes, Gus Logie, Joel Garner (Joel shook my hand and his fingers were up to my elbow), and Wes Hall. my Dad almost had a heart attack cause he didn’t know where the hell we were but more so who he saw us leave the ground with on the walk back up to the Hilton Hotel with some of there own security. We did this every one day game they played at the MCG. And we would be waiting the next Morning outside the Hilton Hotel when they all left. The best experience ever of my childhood. As an Aussie when we watched the Aussies train they were rude, arrogant didn’t give anyone the time of day and I remember one of the opening batsman tell a kid to F off when asked for an autograph.Didnt follow the Aussies for decades and still have a massive soft spot the West Indies today…The best team I’ve ever seen and will have in my life.

Mike holding the jamaican Express has similarity with Denzelwashington. Both are living legend in their own field. We could not bowled gavaskar the calypso. Tony cozier the great commentator port of Spain test I was then a college student I still remember Tony on microphone in come holding the jamaican express from the pavillion end bowls to gavaskar whistling past gavaskar next one gavaskar drives dissecting cover for four. Holding I believe was perhaps the greatest fast bowler I have seen in 70s.
