Michael Irvin Says The NFL Tried To SABOTAGE Lamar Jackson...
Michael Irvin didn't hold back on his latest Lamar Jackson take on Undisputed. With Lamar Jackson set to win his 2nd MVP, the Lamar Jackson slander has quietly came to an end. Will Lamar Jackson continue his brilliance against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday? Michael Irvin argues Lamar Jackson isn't maximizing Odell Beckham Jr's potential
Michael Irvin argues Lamar Jackson isn't maximizing Odell Beckham Jr's potential
The Baltimore Ravens signed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as an added weapon for Lamar Jackson. OBJ has missed some time due to an injury, however, he still isn't seeing the type of production he had with his former teams.
Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin believes the Ravens aren't utilizing Odell Beckham Jr.'s talent enough. Rather, the offense is allowing Lamar Jackson to continue what he has done in the past, which is to make plays on his own.
"Odell's a transition receiver. You can't think you got to transition and come out. Odell's an outside receiver, Lamar has never really used outside receivers. He's always played inside. I like this offense for Lamar. Because very few quarterbacks can run you to a Super Bowl. Now, if you use that running of Lamar Jackson, as an additive, and not the premise of the base, then you got a chance. But he stopped running like he ran his MVP like two years ago. He's going to have to let that ball go. He's not going to run his team to a Super Bowl. And they're going to need Odell, you'll get the best Odell in the playoffs."
While Lamar Jackson is a talented quarterback, Michael stated that he can't do it all on his own. Especially if he wants to get to a Super Bowl. Jackson will need to use Odell Beckham Jr. as a weapon in the passing game.
Odell Beckham Jr. has yet to score a touchdown in 2023
Odell Beckham Jr. won his first Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in February 2022. That concluded a tumultuous season for the wide receiver after he abruptly left the Cleveland Browns. However, during Super Bowl LVI, he tore his ACL and underwent surgery to repair his knee.
As a free agent at the time, the rehabilitation prevented him from signing with another team. He was medically cleared late last season but chose to wait and sign in 2023.
He signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens in hopes of showing he is fully healthy and can get a multi-year contract in the future. This season though, OBJ has yet to show his former explosiveness.
The WR has played in four games this season, starting two of those. He has a total of nine receptions for 113 receiving yards and averaging 12.6 yards per catch with his longest of the season being 32 yards. He is still in search of his first touchdown with the Ravens.

That might be the most intelligent point I’ve ever heard Michael Irvin make! Steve Young won a Super Bowl and he falls into the running QB category (that was forced to stay in the pocket). To say a running QB can’t is complete garbage. How many QB’s with the ability to really run have been given the chance to play in the NFL? Look how hard they tried to make Lamar switch positions. There are still morons that refuse to admit they were/are wrong.

I believe it...100%. The QB position is the most demanding position in sports. "They" don't want dark skin and thick lips being at its forefront...especially skin and lips that can also run like that...destroying the "superiority" of the "standard" drop-back model.

He was not a brain washed fool. He refused to go overseas and fight in Vietnam. He knew better. Ray Lewis is a sell out. This game is bigger than just football. Hope Lamar and the Ravens beat the Chiefs and after that get the super bowl ring. That's a huge win against those racists. They can't afford to see a versatile black QB that could run and not always stay in the pocket. GO LAMAR GO RAVENS.

Before Mike Vick broke the 1,000 yard barrier as a quarterback. The previous record was set in 1972, by a big athletic white quarterback lefty. Before Cam Newton set the rushing record of rushing touchdowns, was once owned by Steve Grogan, white Quarterback for the Patriots. Now Josh Allen has the record. Even back in the 70’s teams ran sweeps and dives and quarterback draws and power plays. It’s always been a backfield position. Agreed. I was just thinking that running quarterbacks have always been around. Coded language to keep Black athletes from playing the position

When watching these sports shows, they talk about the Ravens defense most of the time, avoid talking about Lamar. 3. When they talk about Lamar, they STILL talk about Lamar still being in the evolving stage. As if he doesn't have it yet, but other QBs that have been in the league just as long, they don't do that. I have more but I have to go. Anyway go Lamar, I know you are focused on another level. The best QB in the league.

He gives what the defense gives him if he’s got a wide up in lane he will scramble still looking to pass and granted 2019 Lamar Jackson, if the first person wasn’t open, he was scrambling and running And taking off for yards but this year totally different Lamar Jackson he raised the steaks higher he scrambles and is always looking down field to pass and if there ain’t someone open by 78 seconds and he sees a wide open running lane he’s taking it but he’s always looking to pass first Lamar Jackson is a real dual threat quarterback, the best to ever do it the king of the AFC

They already had every $ of his contract from the past 6 year in ticket sales..but if you add in two playoff games including a championship game hosted at home all of baltimore has got their money worth. Funny thing about it is Lamar laser focus on that ring he dont care about awards ticket sales or what the media says...Im glad he got paid and will be even happier when he completely sh!t on all the haters when he holding up that lombardi...im all in baltimore all in and even if it isn't this year.."which i really feel like it is" he will get his and for sure be a first ballot hof hopefully with plenty of rings to shut down all the haters

Ravens overlooked lamar too they had a 25 and 32nd pick and chose a tight end with the 25th pick over Lamar so they passed on him too😅

That's not true at all. They got Lamar for the future but they a drafted hating hers for a tight end for flack or because at the time flaco was the franchise quarterback so they drafted what they needed the lamar with the backup plan which that's what you do.

@freshlyfe4400 there is no denying that my guy, but I was giving the reason as to why they didn't draft LJ with the 25th pick. They did know that Jackson wasn't gonna go until basically round 2, that's why they traded back in to get him. He was gonna be picked up as the 1st pick on day 2. Had to grab him

He already charged the game. Without a ring there's always gonna be nay sayers! The Ravens are going toshut the haters up. They already talking about it's because of the Ravens defense they are winning. Nonsense it's teamwork but LJ is The Man!

Lamar is not a "run first quarterback". That's dismissive. That's what they've been trying to be with Lamar all along and they're super mad that they're running out of ways to keep doing it. Lamar is a "run if quarterback".

Most NFL owners/GM’s Will continue hating - however, there’ll always be a smart owner/GM who’ll ignore the BS, and choose a Lamar Jackson, Pat Mahomes, Doug Williams, Steve McNair, Cam Newton, Michael Vick, Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon, etc, etc - and quickly become a winning team… 👍👍

The Irony...Mahomes and especially Purdy ran their way to victory. Black qbs need to learn what Russell Wilson used to know instinctively: the assignment is to win the game, full stop. Worshipping at the alter of 'winning from the pocket' is for losers. Win by any means necessary. As gifted as he is with his arm, you can see that 'just win baby' dripping off of Mahomes every moment he is on a playoff field. If Lamar could quiet his inner desire to be seen as *not* a running back, he would truly be unstoppable as a true duel threat. He is good enough passing now to combine his good throwing ability with shiftiness we have never seen before and win multiple superbowls. But he has to in his heart commit to winning at the cost of being called a rb. Just win baby and then hold up your rings.

Ya'll know the Refs is going to get in this game. The same way they did Philly in the Super Bowl. They had the Chief field manager tamper with the field and called holding when they didn't call it all game. Helmet to Helmet on Devonte Smith wasn't called.

I don't know if that style will change the game unless he dominates it the next few years with LeBron like SB(finals )appearances, I think you can win with both styles, but quarterbacks that can balance both like LJ will be the Majority

The game is already changed. From youth to college athletes are playing quarterback. Coaches are innovating their offenses around them. They will learn the necessary footwork, the fundamentals, the mechanics to play from the pocket. They are levels, like their have always been. Mobile quarterbacks~ will be the majority, as they are now. While QB’s like Sroud and Stafford, Mahomes primarily play from pocket, under center they are athletic nonetheless and are able to use their legs to make plays, or avoid negative plays. But there aren’t many Jared Goffs in the ranks. Even Brock Purdy has some good athleticism. Kirk Cousins, there are guys, however a vast majority of the young quarterbacks in the league are athletic. Lamar of of being the most athletic, but Justin Fields is also extremely dynamic, Josh Allen as well. There are always the gunslingers, mobile guys, system guys| game managers types… what’s not widely known is that there have always been different styles of quarterbacks, dual threats have been rare, but what Irvin alluded to is true~ younger coaches have changed the paradigm on the position. The game has changed as well, it’s less physical, and favors the offense, having a dynamic athlete that can play quarterback, and manage the game, puts so much pressure on the defense. I would say the pure drop back quarterbacks ala the Mannings and Brady’s era~ Goff, Cousins, lesser extent Mayfield, Purdy, Mason Rudolph’s those type guys aren’t being bred on the lower levels, nothing to do with race, but more about athleticism, it’s par for the position

Lamar's numbers in his draft class was 2nd to only Mayfield who played longer. His completions percentage was a lower than Josh Allen but his drop pct. was higher. All of them turned the ball over at a higher rate than Lamar. What they were quiet about was 46 players from Lamar's conference got drafted to the NFL. Which means Lamar was playing tougher compettiton. His third year was actually better than his Heiesman trophy year, where he was a runners up. Lamar had more 100 yard rushing games than Saquon Barkley, the #1 pick of the Giants! The reason they ALL piled on Lamar, is the same reason why they locked up Michael Vick. They did not want to happen, what is happening now and that is, a QB who's a dual threat. That would mean that the QB position would end up being a Black man's position the way the middle linebacker and safety became. Look at all of the Black QB's the NFL is drafting. It's a copy-cat league. Everybody knows your QB has to do both, for you to win now. Think about it, what would of happened to Brady and Manning had Vick not went to jail.

Odell Beckham is 100% correct Lamar has no pressure on him because he’s been taken out big teams and been doing good in the big games. All the other analyst they act like Lamar has all this pressure when Lamar Jackson feels like it’s an opportunity instead of pressure, Lamar has been doing this stuff all year and year and and year out. There is no pressure on Lamar. It’s just another game for Lamar. Yeah it’s a bigger game but it’s nothing New Lamar Jackson is that dog analyst will say he has pressure but everyone knows Lamar doesn’t have any pressure. He plays games all year like they are a playoff game so Lamar’s been in playoff mode since week one pretty much Lamar Jackson gonna do his job and get it done.
