Written, composed, co-produced by Michael Jackson & the guitar 🎸 solo by Steve Stevens. Fun fact : Diana, Princess of Wales told MJ personally that it was her favorite among his songs.

Fun fact while performing in front of Princess Diana he took this song out of the lineup and she personally asked him why he didn’t perform it, his response was he thought it would be disrespectful to her. That man was class all around.

The lead guitarist (Steve Stevens) with the crazy riffs and solo's. Is the same guitarist from Billy Idol. He joined Michael Jackson to play this particular song.
@spiritanimal88363 жыл бұрын
Fun fact and an example of Michael's genius is that he told Steve to incorporate the interval note in to the main riff. He said what you don't play is more important than what you do play. So the da na na na na .....na na na is his genius.

I remember when this album came out. I was a teenager and it was one hit after the next. Just when we thought one song was great, the next song hit # 1, then the next, and so on. Everyone wanted to dress like him, sing and dance like him. Such an amazing all-around artist.

Michael Jackson is the GOAT. And like much of his work, he not only gave a phenomenal vocal and physical performance, but he also wrote and composed this song, as well as coproduced it. You definitely need to step up your MJ knowledge and appreciation game. Forever the King. 👑
@karenngawhika15953 жыл бұрын
James Brown was one of Michael's earliest and greatest inspirations, just like MJ has been to generations since. Michael spoke of him often. There would be no Michael Jackson (or at least not in the same way), without James Brown. When JB died, it was so important to Michael to pay his respects, that he appeared in public for the first time in years to attend his funeral (something that must have been particularly difficult for him to do, if you understand the circumstances).
@JulieStardoll3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I am a huge Michael Jackson fan, but people don't really realise the impact that James Brown has had on music. Pop music wouldn't be what it is without him, as Michael himself was inspired by him. I think James Brown is just so severely underrated especially today. Ngl it rubbed me the wrong way a bit when they laughed at that mention... I didn't even get what was so funny about James Brown.
@karenngawhika15953 жыл бұрын
@@JulieStardoll yes, my comment came from a similar place. Brown wasn't called the Godfather of Soul for nothing! And not insignificant that MJ looked up to "the Hardest-Working Man in Showbusiness" so much. There are so many people that MJ was inspired by, he frequently and consistently spoke of his admiration for all sorts of artists, writers, and leaders. I think people maybe don't realise that although MJ's own inherent genius, talent, and self- belief obviously played a big part in his success, it was also his absolute dedication to studying the work of others, his ability to collaborate productively, and just shear hard work that got him there. I still loved this reaction though! Long live the King ❤

I'm of the 80s. Micheal Jackson was the biggest entertainer in the world. He was bigger than anyone today, and that includes Beyonce and Jay Z combined. We held up lighter and watched with our own eyes. No cellphones. It was like a religious experience. Rich and poor, politicians and royalty loved the king of pop. People today will never experience that because they are attached to their phones and not really there.

The energy of this video was EVERY SINGLE DAY IN THE 1980s. I can attest to that. When the 90s hit we were so excited for more and it quickly dropped out of pop culture. This music video was actually not a concert but was shot in front of a live audience to make it look like a concert. There may have been cuts and retakes while making this video. The guitarist in the video is a well known one by the name Steve Stevens, and he said in an interview that while making this video, MJ snatched his guitar from his hands out of excitement, which was kind of funny for Steve but unfortunately it wasn't included in the video as the camera angle was not right.
