“Who was bigger, MJ or Prince?” Michael. No question. I’m a Prince girl in my heart, but the phenomenon that was Michael Jackson probably will never be repeated. He was clearly the biggest star in the world. The hype was indescribable.

yeah idk why they have to bring Prince up. It's not kind to MJ cuz its disrespectful, and then its not kind to Prince to have to live up to being the most famous artist ever. Prince has to be enjoyed in his own light. MJ was literally the most famous thing to happen

@@jk4675 Beatles were huge and looking at the fact that they were only active for 10 years is telling. However, they were definitely not on the level of MJ in terms of fame. When you see those old images, you see mostly young girls. Guys liked them too, but not as widely and openly. MJ spoke to a way broader audience in terms of age, race, gender.

Love this song! *Fun Fact* : MJ performed at Wembley Stadium in 1988, with Prince Charles & Princess Di in attendance. He met them both. Princess Di pulled MJ away from the line saying she wanted to talk to him. She asked if he was going to do Dirty Diana tonight. He said, "No, no. I took it out of the show out of respect for you." To which she responded, "That's my favorite song!!" They were good friends & used to have phone chats. I hope they're still enjoying each other's companionship on the other side. 😇💞😇

One of MJ’s greatest songs filled deep with meaning, emotion, dishonesty, lack of self-control, and manipulative behavior. This song is so well rounded it’s definitely worth dissecting stanza by stanza, line by line, word by word, and inflection by inflection to get a meaning, understanding, and appreciation of, “not only the song,” but Dirty Diana, herself. Her name alone screams volumes. As a high school English teacher, this is how I taught my students to appreciate poetry, through song lyrics, because they are poetry set to music.

@Bill Howe that is such a great way to teach English. I always used to love to read and write. One teacher stands out in my mind our music teacher who I took both music theory and music history with. He used to get the New York times and make us all look in the entertainment section and he explained the plays and everything and that was the best way for students who didn't already know any music theory or history become interested. Then he would give us a 20 page paper to write and he was teaching writing too. Thank you and thank my music teacher and thank all the teachers that we had over the years that were really great teachers and great innovators.

Amber - we all feel the love girl. MJ was my very first ever concert at 10 years old in 1984. It was his Victory Tour in Toronto. I still have the ticket and the bus pass. He and his bodyguards actually walked past my parent's table in Vegas when they went there for their anniversary. Billie Jean, Beat It, Man in the Mirror, The Way You Make Me Feel, Black or White, Ben, and Will You Be There (from Free Willy) are my top favourites. Also you MUST do the video for Say Say Say with MJ and Paul Macartney. It's absolutely brilliant - and amazing. Much love from Canada!

He did a concert in front of Prince Diana and she asked him before the concert started, are you going to do Dirty Diana and he said no out of respect for her and she beg him to sing it.The full concert is on youtube. Would love for you to go polar opposite with him next time maybe and listen to Human Nature, his voice is so perfect and clear and amazing in that song and the music is so good too. I absolutely LOVE this song, but Ms. Amber wins the award for THE BEST chair dancing on this one! Girlfriend was IN THE ZONE! As far as who was more popular, MJ was probably more recognized worldwide. His music was more pop and PG oriented, whereas Prince was the bad boy of a combination of rock, soul and funk, far edgier and appealing more to the R and sometimes X-rated crowd with his lyrics, pushing the boundaries and exuding sexuality. It all boils down to a matter of taste. Both great performers, songwriters, singers, but Prince actually played and mastered a multitude of instruments. IMHO, Michael Jackson was BAD, but Prince was a genius!

Prince flaunted whereas MJ teased. MJ drove people crazy for a reason, including straight men lol. MJ songs aren’t always as “straight-laced” as people think either, just not explicit. Many of his songs are actually dark in theme like this Dirty Diana, This Place Hotel, Morphine, Little Susie, even Billie Jean. He was a great storyteller. He also liked to play w/ words & let people give their own meaning eg Leave Me Alone. MJ also started trends, & set the bar others try to aim for., in many aspects. Beyond genius, he was a visionary!

Michael Jackson was a very diverse artist. You two should react to Heal The World, Man in The Mirror, The Earth Song, Have You Seen My Child Hood, Remember The Time, and They Don't Really Care About Us to experience even more music and video diversity from MJ. Also you might want to check out Scream (He recorded this one with his younger sister Janet Jackson, who is a super star in her own right, and it is the most expensive music video of all times. No other music video has surpassed it's cost to date).

"I love love" They Don't Really Care About Us", it reminds me of the days following MJ's death and they were playing all of his music non-stop for days, my granddaughter was visiting and was watching all the videos from his childhood forward and exclaimed" OMG, ,Micheal Jackson was black?!!!!" I am ashamed to admit I laughed historically!!! Because it hit me why would a new generation know that he was black, he had gotten so light-skinned, I now know, it had a lot to do with " vitiligo", but I still thought it comical, because kids are so observant and just speak thier truth, innocently. But we also danced in my living room to "They Don't Really Care About Us". Tee copied the dance he was doing, and all the people in the video were doing it also with such joy!!!! I miss his presence and talent as much as the world does!!!!
