OMG, you're reacting to one of my favorite Michael Jackson song of all time and I'm so happy for that. He's the certified King Of Pop for a reason. His music is iconic and easy for everyone to remember. Not to mention this man is full of awesome talents. He can sing, dance, produce. He's basically an ace at this point. I can say a lot of good things about Michael Jackson but this will probably be a long rant. But anyways, I'm really appreciated that you actually reacted to this song. Thank you so much Dereck for making my day 😄

When a new MJ video premiered it was an event when I was growing up. I was 12 when this video came out and I remember watching it in my living room and being absolutely mesmerized and in awe of this man and his genius even as a 12 year old girl! No one will ever come close to him! We dubbed him The King Of Pop for a reason!

When a new Michael Jackson music video was being premiered in the 1980’s and 90’s it was a big thing. It had its special time slot on tv at a special time.

I wasn't even a big fan of Mike when I was young but I definitely remember the premiere of Black Or White on non-music TV channel here in the UK as if it was a regular TV programme, yep.

@carn95072 жыл бұрын
@@softshallow7435 ugh, channel 4. Oddly I have them to thank in a weird way. For airing that debunked dogturd 'documentary' 3 years ago (though it was their intention to cancel him, not make new fans of his). I wasn't really sure about Jackson and watched that expecting to relate to the guy's in it as a survivor myself but noticed huge issues in their stories, behaviour and the extremely manipulative, evidence-free production itself (and comments by the director in it) and did the research and found the director to be a lying creep and his subjects to be frauds who've been trying to get Jackson's money in multiple failed lawsuits since 2013 and change their stories more each time they fail. I then went back and researched the rest such as the Arvizo case and the one that started it all, dodgy dentist Evan Chandler who near enough admitted he was only ever after money (and I listened to audiobook of Carrie Fisher's Shockaholic where she talks with disgust about Chandler, who was her dentist at the time until he started saying weird crap about his own kid and she supported Jackson and was with him and his kids on what would be his last ever christmas years later in 2008). Anyways, yeah once I knew facts and read court docs, the FBI file on Jackson, which contradict the tabloid nonsense I became more open to appreciating his music and yeah I've become a bit of a fan and regret I didn't appreciate him more when he was a live. And yeah I despise the frauds. Sorry for all the words there but yeah that's kind of how I ended up checking out reaction vids of his music like here now today. Anyways I hope everyone having a good weekend. :)

This is one of his greatest tunes. Even though MJ’s sound on the Dangerous album was very industrial, Remember The Time was a smooth melodic track which allowed his voice to take centre stage. Even though MJ was moving with the times, I still feel his best songs are the ones that have a melodic beat where he sings effortlessly. His sound from the 70s and 80s was the best and I feel he could have stayed with that as he was a genius. Liberian Girl is another beautiful song you should react to the audio version on its own without the video as the video is a distraction.

Michael even performed this song at the soul train awards in 1993 with a twisted ankle and he still killed it - Only Michael could sit on a throne like a king on stage, dance while sitting down and end up with the crowd cheering and chanting his name with delight

Dereck you have absolutely no idea how fast I ran to get my Headphones when I saw this one pop up!!!!! MORE MJ AGAIN PLEASE!! 😭 much love from Germany! 🤍 He never performed Remember the time live on his Tours because the choreography was so hard - only a few dancers could really master it and were approved by Michael! He did rehearse it for his dangerous tour but figured that the Choreo was too hard for his background dancers to make it on the Setlist as well as because of some wardrobe malfunctions.😩

It was really important for MJ to have iconic black stars in an Egyptian themed video short. It was a big deal at the time. MJ was an artist that consistently broke racial and music barriers. In the 80s he definitely helped break the color barrier at MTV and helped black artists get into heavy rotation on the channel but R & B continued to be lightly played at MTV. Most black artists had to cross over to pop or rock songs to get played on the channel. BET played the r& b songs and was instrumental in keeping r & b music alive. MJ’s r & b songs like this helped more r & b influenced music get played on MTV

I like that you mentioned the graphics, MJ did not hold back on those graphics! In fact that sequence where he's rising from the sand in liquid gold? If I'm not mistaken is the same type of cinematic tech that was used for the cyborg killing machine in Terminator 2 Judgment day which came out in 1991 a year before Remember The Time. Though I could be wrong! Regardless, it's a beautiful sequence and they did it so well!
