Watching this, i can't wait for the day somebody makes a claim on the following song.....google WHY? by JASMINE LAMPORT.... I was looking for something to stretch and test Jasmine's beautiful voice so i picked up a piece of paper which i'd written a lyric of about 300 words the day before and took it back again in lyrical content until all that was left were between about 17 and 19 words which said what i wanted to say....WHY?,...WHY,...WHY,..WHY?,...WHY?,.....WHY?WHY DID YOU LEAVE, BECAUSE YOU'RE GONE, WHY DID YOU GO AWAY....then i asked Jasmine to sing the word WHY? with a variety of notes.... .....and it's deep...and yes, repetitive....and yet, if you think that, come back to the song when or after you have tasted great loss....i have watched grown men(and women) well up in tears within three to four of Jasmine's "WHY?'s". Something is happening with it though...a top critic panned it because of repetition...then he was panned by a member of JOE PUBLIC...and she went on to admit to BUYING,yes BUYING(not streaming) all three of Jasmine's songs...on the strength of one listen of "WHY?". Might be an interesting day in court.

It all makes sense now, when you see artists humming out the melody first and then coming up with the words that fit with that melody or rhythm. I picked up some more songwriting tips that I can use when writing my songs, because the words will come easier to you. I'm glad I came across this video of a legend because I learned a lot just by watching his songwriting process. No wonder Michael Jackson had so many hits and they call him the King of Pop.

Better to watch the original, this has stuff cut out of it. Also, there is another trial you can listen to.. it is for the song Dangerous. About the songwriting process... some people get the lyrics first. There is no set way to do it. Also check out Elton John's song writing process. It doesn't matter if you like him or not.. you can still learn from him. Elton can make up songs on the spot. Michael can't. I am not trying to slam Michael, I am just showing that there are many ways to write songs
@LorettasOnly8 жыл бұрын
+brendalg4 That's true they are ways different ways to come up with lyrics. Sometimes I already have concept in mind before I even hear instrumental, because come up with the melody in my head. I will check out Elton John some more too, I know he makes great music too. Thanks for the tip, I appreciate it.

@@SeldomPooper Let's start with the inflated title "Greatest Composer Of All Time". Mozart wrote 41 symphonies which lasts 45 - 75 minutes and the orchestra that consists of 100 pieces played the music. Jackson couldn't read music nor could he write music so how is Jackson a superior composer? Prince, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins and Steve Winwood have all done something Jackson never did. They all have written the lyrics, wrote the music and played the all the instruments, arranged the vocals remixed the music on an entire album themselves. No one else in the studio helping them. Jackson had never done that for an individual song, let alone an album. We all know Jackson would beat box the drum parts, sing the guitar and other musical instrument parts to the studio musicians who would then translate to musical notes. Hear a sound in your mind and vocalize it or play it on an instrument. Jackson wasn't the first to do this, he wasn't the last and he wasn't the best.

The voice is an instrument, even musicians should be able to understand that fact. The human voice has a certain range dependent upon the individual and requires proper care. An instrument requires being put in tune and oiling just like the vocal chords need care. You train your voice like you train on an instrument needing to learn pitch and meter. People saying MJ can't play an instrument likely sound like croaking frogs when they sing any song themselves.

He hears everything simultaneously in his head at once like a symphony. The song appears from above. Many people hear a short melody in their head and dismiss it. Let it grow, imagine what it can become. Hear all of the details. Your creative/ musical muscles must be "worked out" every single day or they will get weak and disappear. You can bring them back but it gets more difficult with age (just like real muscles). Regardless of what history says about MJ its difficult to argue the man was one of the most brilliant artists and composers ever; perhaps the Mozart of our time.

Very informative. But it sounds like a deposition in a trial. I truly wish that someone had convinced Michael to share his talent and show his songwriting techniques, to give other aspiring writers encouraging points.

+Malik Abdullah It is a trial. Someone had sued him for plagarizing The girl is Mine (I think). Of course it was just a sham, but isn`t ironic that none of these questions were asked by interviewers? We have to watch trial footage to get answers to the most basics questions about his genious.

+Malik Abdullah It is a deposition. He got taken to court for plagarism for a song and they demanded to show them how he writes a song. So he got up and showed them what he does. He's not a very talented musician, he started most of his songs by beat boxing and the lyrics were just mush until he figured them out.

+Joe Cassandra lol "not a very talented musician." Are you high? Also if you knew anything about songwriting, most people start out with "mush" lyrics and then figure them out. Rarely do people write out a poem and then put it into melody. It's much less calculated than you think.

Everything these days is so excessive and over saturated as well in the world of music it's impossible for someone to be able to come close at all to bring a legend like him

It's impossible. He was one with the music and understood what people could connect to and feel for more than any artist of today

I think I have a newfound appreciation for "The Girl Is Mine". I always thought the song was one of MJ's lamer songs, but there is something to it that I like now.

Have you listened to the demo version? I really prefer that over the album version.

The demo is divine. The strings are magical. McCartney makes it sound like a nursery rhyme.

I love and respect all human beings, but there's millions of ways to write a song, this is Michaels way so why are y'all saying I have new advice, there's no advice, just tell the truth, I usually get a feeling, I write to some melody in my head, while doing what I call head singing, singing in my head, and then writing it on paper, so when I see the lyrics there's already an approach to the music, emphasized through my wording, find the best place for you to write, because this is Michaels way

Spot on...me too...it's not rocket science...it's FEELING....and Michael FEELS it on this video. Read my comment five above yours Kyri...about a song called "WHY?" by Jasmine Lamport.

Usually I get music first. Sometimes, music and (some) lyrics together. Rarely, do I bother to write a lyric first, or more than just a few phrases, because it's awkward and confining having to shoehorn music into a prewritten lyric. (No I have no decent quality finished music online at the moment... Even so, I have experience with this)

Nah I don’t force it at all I let the song create it self, like the beat talks to me and I easily come up with melodies. I hum the melodies and words just pop out my mouth that I feel that goes hard and easily able to write an entire song off it. But mainly, don’t force it let the song talk to you

The end result made me cry..i'm crying man...I'm crying....the combination of the strings and the soft notes were 14:31 and 14:42 magical...lovely... healing... actually i don't know the correct word to say.. these words can't explain it.. i was typing those 3 words.. but i felt they don't really match.. ahh.. got a word..it's something like divine... i don't know what you feel.. i feel like i'm in a paradise... but at the same time I feel some kind of loneliness in the music.. when i was just listening to music.. you are a genius michael... my idol...love you forever.. ❤❤❤come back soon.. this world needs you... we will raise our voice as one.. if somrthing happens after you come..i will defend you til my last breath... i hope your other fans will do the same.. keep faith on us.. Come back.... we will cross the borders if needed....❤❤❤❤❤
