@@loubamour I think you will find that he played the instruments and it was Anthony Marrenilli's programming of the synths and Quincy Jones did the arrangements. Apart from maybe the songs Rob Temperton wrote, he might had a hand in the arrangements

About the howls, Bruce Swedien (genius engineer) said his dog was supposed to howl but didn't come to the studio. I forget why. Michael howled instead, and they used that because it was so good.

Man I really enjoyed this video. It showed just how much work Michael put into recording this song and also how much work the engineers put into blending all of the technology they had at their disposal during that period of time. The harmonies were of the chain. Those gave me all sorts of ideas of what to put into my future recordings of harmony. Thank you so much for dissecting this song. There was a lot of genius put into this production. Things that I would not have even imagined, had you not taking this song apart and letting us hear the results of this recording. Thriller is an amazing album, but arguably the worst example when trying to make a point against anything being over produced. Especially after watching a video about the endless amount of different tracks that are virtually impossible to detect when listening to the final song. Thriller is a celebration of over producing to perfection.

19:36 - 20:05 you made a great point; "because they're weird, because they're volatile, and vulnerable." That's what I love about Michael's music. He was a perfectionist but he also didn't hide or fix the so called "imperfect" parts of his voice. How he recorded it is exactly what you hear on the finished product. Prince was like this too. That's why they're inspirations to me and my music. I don't use autotune. I don't like to OVER produce my music. As singers were supposed to love ALL the parts and textures of our voice. fun fact, the “frog“ sound that you’re talking about was made by the Cassat ton MT 40 which at the time cost between $100-$150. If I remember the story correctly, they wanted a unique sound in Quincy Jones just happened to have one lying around his house and they found that preset and they used it for that effect, this was mentioned by Anthony, who was one of the synthesizer programmers for the album.
