Lyrics: Love was taken from a young life And no one told her why Her direction has a dimelight From one more violent crime She innocently questioned why Why her father had to die She asked the men in blue How is it that you get to choose Who will live and who will die Did God say that you could decide? You saw he didn't run And that my daddy had no gun In the middle of a village Way in a distant land Lies a poor boy with his broken toy Too young to understand He's awaken, ground is shakin His father grabs his hand Screaming, crying, his wife's dying Now he's left to explain He innocently questioned why Why his mother had to die What did these soldiers come here for? If they're for peace, why is there war? Did God say that they could decide Who will live and who will die? All my mama ever did Was try to take care of her kids We're innocently standing by Watching people lose their lives It seems as if we have no voice It's time for us to make a choice Only God could decide Who will live and who will die There's nothing that can't be done If we raise our voice as one They've gotta hear it from me They've gotta hear it from you They've gotta hear it from us We can't take it We've already had enough They've gotta hear it from me They've gotta hear it from you They've gotta hear it from us We can't take it We've already had enough They've gotta hear it from me They've gotta hear it from you They've gotta hear it from you baby We can't take it We've already had enough Deep in my soul baby Deep in your soul and let God decide Deep in my soul It's up to me and I'm still alive They've gotta hear it from us We can't take it We've already had enough It's going down baby Just let God decide, It's going on baby Just let God decide Deep in my soul baby We've already had enough They've gotta hear it from me They've gotta hear it from you They've gotta hear it from us We can't, we can't We've already had enough

I think that’s exactly why they drag him. Michael was way more powerful than anyone gives him credit for. His global influence, especially over the youth of the world, is unparalleled. Borders, language barriers, cultural differences didn’t exist for him as it does for many powerful people such as politicians and religious leaders. His messages of unity, acceptance, love and individual empowerment are counterproductive to dividing and conquering the masses.

This is one of the many songs Michael wrote and performed after he was banished from the United States. A majority his music during that time dealt with social issues and deep emotional, personally complex life experiences. "invincible" is very good album, but radio stations refused to help promote it. A large majority of U.S. citizens are judgmental and slow to forgive. Even if a person has been proven not guilty for an alleged crime, some in the U.S. refuse to believe the judicial process, and form their own opinion even if they have no factual information .

I feel what you are saying; however, he was not banished from the U.S. He still held citizenship in the U.S. and chose not to stay here, understandably. If they ransacked the place you lived at and you had the financial means to live, many people would perhaps choose to leave as well. MJ did not in any way declare political asylum. There have been political musical artists who actually were banished from their places of birth for the music they made (ex. Gilberto Gil, Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela, etc.). Michael returned to the states in the last part of his life, so he definitely wasn't banished. Invincible is actually one of my favorite albums from MJ, and it definitely was promoted by radio (and had a huge television special featuring a song or two from the album)- it just wasn't heavily promoted by POP radio. Songs from the album definitely were played by soul/R&B/AC stations at the time. I remember hearing from folks used to his more pop-themed songs that the album was 'too soulful'. The other thing is that the album went past the budget doled out by Sony; and they wanted him to tour the album, and he refused to... thereby putting the stops to more major promotion. Then September 11th happened, and that changed everything, not just for how Invincible was promoted, but the industry as a whole. Anyone, and especially MJ should have known to not put faith in record companies. He worked for Motown as a child so he knew how scammy the business was. He tried to get a seat at the table but they are always going to exploit labor. Michael was just an employee to exploitative execs. He realized that far too late. To me, it's not about people in the U.S. being 'too judgemental'. The very foundation of the U.S. is exploitation, be it the record industry, the prison system or the government. This is a HUGE component of what the HIStory album is about. Talking about this stuff was not Michael's first go-round. Michael was still selling records for Sony at the rates they wanted, so he could sing all the political songs he wanted. By the time Invincible rolled around he outlived his usefulness as a 'good worker' for the boss. So they didn't put that much energy into him. Michael made the mistake of thinking he had enough leverage there. But capitalism does not care about what you did in the past... Are you benefiting us now? People will disagree with me, but Michael was as expendable as any other Sony artist. He wasn't targeted because he was Michael Jackson. They stopped the focus on him because he was draining their ability to profit off him. Nothing new. Once 1991/1992 rolled around they supported him less and less, because he was a liability due to the controversies which followed him- remember how Black or White got banned? But he was still selling records and tours. They got what they wanted out of him when he sold half the ATV catalog, eventually selling off 75% of the shares- why else would they need him? Sony now owns 100% of ATV. Context is really important. I see a lot of comments about Michael not getting any support behind Invincible, but this situation was a long time coming, if you study his relationship with CBS and then Sony. He's ALWAYS had battles with the company. He stopped being a 'golden child' LONG before 2001. Be well...

3:58 - 4:10 never heard such an explosion in a song with all the heehees and some crazy drum beats.. i can see him putting us in church again.. he went heavy rock gospel on this one.. and apart from that.. amazing song all in all.. the softness at the beginning.. and this crescendo towards the end.. with the in your face lyrics from a true empath, an observer of pain.. only Michael. He really believed in the power of music.. and that is why he was so different.. he really believed in its powers...and you can hear it... he believed in it as a form of a life force that changes hearts... as an essential experience of this universe. it matters to have intentional and great music... it matters to believe in its power.. it makes a difference to believe it can make a difference.. it is a contribution to the world..

I can relate. I was also 8 when he died and got through bad times. I am lucky to be born at the same lifetime with MJ. Love you Michael.

This song is so current in 2020 because of the problems between the United States and Iran and the possibility of a war. We have had enough of this and peace must be the way. Michael, thanks for teaching us through your music.
