ONE MORE THING...Michael is a rare species as far as athlete...gifted and all that shit...but for the sake of those who talk age...Michael was 34 going on 35 in this 1997-1998 season...Gary was in his so called prime...Michael was passed that shit (keep in mind he is a rare species) and Payton still can't guard his ass.

MJ was born in 1963 so he turned 35 years old in feb of 1998. Past his prime, MJ said in 1996 that he was still close to his prime, saying that hes at 96% or something. But its hard for the eye to see but mike himself knows. That was in 1996 at the age of 33. In 1998 he was clearly past his prime but still on top of the rest of the league.

FE23, was this the game where Jordan and Pippen combined for a massive block on Payton on the fastbreak? It was either this game or the game in 1998 in Chicago (I know Doc Rivers was commentating, too). One of the best blocks I've ever seen.

Various season that I came up with this defensive assignment. Just some discussion here. MJ in 98 was more a jump shooter and back up turn around fadaway shooter, so Payton could not play him at all at the post with MJ size advantage. Hawkins was at least taller able to pump. See MJ's turn around jumper at 7:13 on Payton. Payton could not guard him at all when MJ has his back to the basket.

@tblacc11 Kobe's played more games than Mike and he leads jordan in 3's attempted and made and turnovers. Those are the only statistical categories he leads mike in. ppg, rbs, assists, steals, double-doubles, triple-doubles, 40 point games 50 point games. And even worse Kobe's played w/better players. when u say he has 5 rings you really should say 2 cause the ones where he wasn't the best player on his own team don't really count in the rings debate. shaq won all the finals mvps.

@EvilZeroSc thats not logic at all. Since "The Arrival" game, MJ has been hailed by players and announcers that he is the best player in the game, and will be the greatest player of all time. And that was like what.... 1986 to the end of his career. Not quite the same with Kobe, so I'm not sure what logic your seeing. However, in the grand scheme of things you are correct in a way since we all look at things OVERALL.... i guess KOBE can be considered the best of his era.

@tblacc11 As far as your 80 point game, I just want to reply with Kobe's other stats during that game. It was either 2 rebounds and 0 assists or 0 rebounds and 2 assists, I don't remember which. Jordan's 69 point game was against a team that went to the Conference Finals (what have the Raptors ever done again? Not gotten out of the first round) and Jordan put up 19 rebounds and 7 assists in his 69 point game. Your argument is a complete and total joke when you try to call Kobe anything near MJ..
@blackadam0613 жыл бұрын
@deking27 LBJ consistently shoots in 47-49% from the field, which is VERY efficient for a perimeter player.. Kobe however consistently shoots 45% (mediocre) or LOWER from season to season. Kobe's a VOLUME shooter/scorer, meaning it takes him a TON of shots just to get his pts. Those kinda players are NEVER efficient at all...ask A.I.

@mrblend Well the big difference is that Mj did amazing things when he first came in the league, whereas Kobe was being compared to MJ & was too young and immature and on the bench. So MJ earned his respect thru the game, Kb was just given the title based off of potential & not off of his accolades in the NBA. Mj was quoted as coming the leagued and embarassing it, Kobe was still on the bench due to inexperience & bad decision making on the court.

@deking27 My comments aren't opinion based, it's a fact. U cannot on one hand admit that he misses a lot of shots and then claim that this doesn't make him inefficient. That's a BLATANT contradiction, and defies ALL logic, reason & common sense.
@blackadam0613 жыл бұрын
@deking27 Efficiency is about BOTH makes & misses. I don't know why this is SO DIFFICULT for kobe's fans to understand..SMH And in a comparison (which is what the initial topic was about), he CONSISTENTLY MISSES more shots than he makes when compared to MJ. Kobe has taken WELL OVER 20,000 career shots, yet he hasn't even made AT LEAST 10,000 of 'em (half) in 15 yrs of play, and isn't even CLOSE to doing so until sometime around 2013... Think about that for a second..
@blackadam0613 жыл бұрын
@deking27 "compared to all his made shots those are easily ignore" That's the problem! U kobe homers are ALWAYS trying to disregard his missed shots, which you're SUPPOSED to compare to the made ones, in order to get an ACCURATE picture of what he's TRULY done in those situations, which will tell U how effective he really is! "that doesnt make him an inefficient scorer" Yes it does! If by your own admission he "misses a lot of shots", that's the DEFINITION of being inefficient..

@blackadam0613 жыл бұрын
@deking27 "kobe's scoring averages in points were always high when he started" Yeah, after the rules changed, which the league's own Exec VP ADMITS to favoring perimeter players.. And again, kobe consistently only shoots 45% year end & year out, and even WORSE than that when the playoffs begin. His track record PROVES it.. With just 5 more misses in this year's playoffs, he becomes the All Time leader in playoff missed shots.. Think about that for a second..
@blackadam0613 жыл бұрын
@deking27 Are U like the rest of these kobe homers who just ignore facts that don't agree with what U wanna believe about him? Yes everyone misses, but that's not the point! When comparing people to determine who's "more efficient", the guy who consistently misses MORE shots per game is the less efficient player..period!! And his misses DOES make a damn difference, but it speaks to how frequently he's able to put the ball in the hole!

He IS NOT an efficient player! Go check his PER (player efficiency ratings)...SMH
@blackadam0613 жыл бұрын
@deking27 He consistently only makes 45% of his shots, which means he consistently MISSES 55% of the time! That means he doesn't even make HALF of his shots on a consistent basis! That's NOT efficient! He became the All Time leader for the most missed playoffs shots in history this season, and has taken WELL over 20,000 career shots, but hasn't even made 10,000 of 'em! U kobe fans REALLY need to learn how to deal with the facts of the matter, and stop deluding yourself about him as a shooter

Not to mention over the last 8 yrs, he's taken MORE foul shots than MJ EVER HAS! And with all of that said, he only has 2 scoring titles to show for it?!! And U guys think he's the scorer MJ was, when he consistently only scores 25ppg on a mediocre 45% shooting? This is what he CONSISTENTLY does..NO..there's a BIG difference between 'em!
