I can see people commenting that the defense was trash here, since Brian Quinnet is white and was guarding MJ.. But the more you watch, he had a hand in MJ's face and was actually staying in front of him for the most part. Defense wasn't trash in the 80's and 90's, MJ was just that good on offense.

Product of Crew MJ was killin every defender of that Era. Black and white...Only idiots and Kid's say because a defensive player of that Era was white they couldn't play defense. And that's complete Bullshit!

What impressed me so much about Jordan was his ability to average 30+ ppg even into the 90s when the NBA transitioned into more of a half court game. It's incredibly difficult to score as efficiently as he did after the defense was able to get set.
@ProductofCrew
@ProductofCrew 7 жыл бұрын
lol yes, I'm only 20 years old, never seen MJ play a single game, but understand the game enough to realize this guy is the GOAT. He would kill in any era of basketball. 80's and 90's were much more competitive than this era today in which each game is a 3 point contest. We live in the era of small ball, 3 point shooting.. This wouldn't survive back then.

They always say today's players are faster and more athletic. Jordan had the fastest first step in history and is faster too!

It’s his stutter step the makes it great and therefore the threat of the stutter which is also backed by his ability to change directions via simple crossover. He also keeps defender off balance with his ability to change between back down and face up either on the catch or off the dribble. Not to mention, in the air he can change direction and acrobatically adjust his upper body.

Dean Smith clocked Michael Jordan running a 40 yard dash in 4.3 seconds coming into the NBA. Definitely the most athletic or one of the most athletic to ever play a team sport. Goat status!

not sure of 50 but it's 100% certain that he would have scored more. Would be an interesting academic exercise to watch a dozen or so games and to see how many times hand checking impeded his progress resulting in a missed shot. One could take a % of those shots to try and arrive at an estimate of how many more shots he would have made. So too, without hand checking, he would have been fouled more, with his going to the free throw line more.

There you go thinkin about somebody else while you say that. i betcha... Too many great players in the history of the league to just dismiss any of them as "(n)o one even close". Cases can be made for Wilt, Kareem, LeBron, Magic, Larry, Russell, Shaq, Kobe,etc. Me personally, i got Kareem as the greatest ever. And thats a FIRM choice for me. Somebody like Mike would have to. have won 8 championships for me to put him past Kareem.

@@theloverswineverytime1625 He's so tall and other than the sky hook he had nothing to offer, too boring to watch, I wish there were super Centers with height of 8'4" to make him look SG and see what skill set he could entertain the fans with. Greatness comes with the appreciation of tougher opposition and excellence of execution.

The Basketball IQ at 5:46 you can see MJ make a split second descision. He aborted jumping for the rebound then shadow clone jitsued around Ewing and perfectly stole the ball out Ewings hands.

1:24. He's not going that fat but look from where he launches for that dunk. His leftover foot is at the dotted line - 10 feet from the hoop. It's not how high he gets although it's high enough. It's that MJ has those huge hands which allow him to palm the ball. There's no need for him to guide the ball in like others which requires a jump from much nearer - he could extend and stretch to dunk. Awesome.

Animal. There hasn't been anything like Jordan before, during, or since. Kobe was the closest. I feel bad for the LeBron generation that didn't get to see real basketball in the 80s and 90s in "real time" like I did. In this era of no hand checking and flopping, Jordan might have averaged 45 for a season.

May be just another 30-pt game in a career where a dude had 60+ countless times, but I still always remember this game. Cuz of that dunk fest. Even when he scored 30 he made it look like 50, that’s what idiots today don’t get, every single possession was exciting with this dude on the court.

@Litty 3 Titty big difference trust me, offense will always trump defense, defense just makes offense work harder, the defense in the 80's and 90's were way different to what it is now
@eddieg860
@eddieg860 4 жыл бұрын
@Litty 3 Titty no it was not the same, in the 80's n 90's the defense made it slower games and there werent many teams scoring triple digits like it is now, only a handful of teams, that's why they change the rules in this era, it's more fitted for the offense now, more fast paced, tons of 3pt shots, 3's werent bein shot like that in the 80's n 90's, it was more midrange shots then....now its 90% 3pts shots, no low post bigs nowadays, bigs are even shooting 3's....the game is fast paced now, even weak teams scoring 100+ points a game...i watched the NbA from the 80's up til now, huge difference trust me

1990-91 was definitely peak Jordan, he was like a cannon about to go off every time he touched the ball. In 90-91 Jordan could go coast-to-coast like a corvette and fly over the defender, while still being able to nail the jump shot. You didn't see that in the second threepeat, or even as much in 92-93, his last year before the first retirement.

This game displayed goatness on Every level. I mean even the Kobe and lebron ever had a first step this lightning. No wasted dribbling. Straight to the point. Even Kobe needed dribbling to get into rhythm. Jordan didn't need a dribble.defenders was so scared of him blowing by him with his first step that he could just shoot over his defenders whenever he felt like it.... Look at the DECADE'S he was able to dominate with probably the most impressive is wizards days being out of his prime and still able to dominate players 20 yrs younger than him at 40. Just tells anybody with a brain that works correctly that he was Averaging 25 -6 -5 at one point before his Injury 38 1/2 what he would do it he was 25 in 2001
