So a 39yr old Jordan dropped 25pts on 64% shooting against zone defense. Yet people say he couldn't dominate against the zone

What beats zone defense is 3 point shooting. Jordan (and other early 2000s stars) would be given the luxury of multiple 3 points shooters to create spacing. He would dominate in any era. His basketball IQ, work ethic, skill set and athleticism is second to none

Listen....when MJ knee was drained of that fluid he was hard to stop...he had a bounce and a lift to his step that nobody could guard idgaf if he was 39😂 man this dude just worked out, ate red meat, drank whiskey, and smoke cigars and was in just a good if not better basketball shape than most
@wwbdwwbd
@wwbdwwbd 7 жыл бұрын
Too bad MJ's knees were in bad shape at this point. He could still do turn-around fade-aways in this game because it was still early in the season. Later on, he would need to visit doctors to have fluid drained from his knees every couple of weeks, and toward the end of 2002-2003 season, he couldn't do fade-away moves anymore. But MJ being MJ, he adapted and still averaged close to 45% field-goal percentage at age 40! That right there tells you how smart and talented MJ was. There won't be another one like him in a very long time and certainly not in my lifetime.

@@sixpack1385 you are an idiot, he avg. a little over 20 pts a game at that age. Scored 43pts against the Nets along with 10 rebounds to get a double double at 40 years old. @@sixpack1385 Jordan averaged 24 ppg like the first 60 games at 38 yrs old. He was actually still one of the top players in the league. This year he already had a knee injury and still dropped 25 points on the Lakers at 39 yrs old. No one at that age has done what he did. 38 yrs old turning 39 and he drops 51 points in a game. Kobe averaged 25 ppg for his career and Jordan at 38/39 yrs old was averaging almost the same. Jordans the goat no question! First the Horry 3 pointer and then like everyone, I was waiting Jordan to take the final shot. But Doug Collins drew a fantastic play, in which Jordan was used as a decoy, enabling Stackhouse a clear lane to the basket. Jordan's defender was so focused on Jordan, that no weak side help came, leading to Stackhouse's dunk. What a finish. I never forget how I cheered all by myself!

This was a great game of a young Kobe (24) vs. an aging Michael (39). As others have said, have to give Coach Collins credit on the last play. Kobe was so obsessed with trying to shut down Michael that he opened up the flood gates for Stackhouse to come right through for the winning stuff. I don't think Michael schooled Kobe, or Kobe schooled Michael. If I remember from the Kobe highlights on another video, he did perform a small right to left crossover on Jordan and hit a runner on him. He also blocked Michael's fadeaway from the other side after he bullied him in the post for that turnaround jumper. This was not 86-87 Jordan or 05-06 Kobe. That would have been a treat to see. In my opinion Michael was more efficient, athletic, physically gifted, stronger, a better defender, a better leader, and more acrobatic finishing around the rim. With that being said, I think Kobe worked tirelessly on his jump shot and honed his other basketball skills to the point he was clearly a better outside shooter, ball handler, free throw shooter, and had slightly better footwork. Kobe had the benefit of being taught by Michael and patterning his game after him. Michael is and will always be the greatest of all time in my opinion. Some of his stats may be surpassed, but he is the greatest winner in a more competitive and skilled era than Bill Russell. These young guys learned the game from Michael, just as he learned from Dr. J. and David Thompson -- but Michael took it to a whole other level and became a global basketball icon and sports figure. No one will ever surpass his greatness. Even today, we still want to "be like Mike."

A few observations in 2024: Won't lie. Him missing those free throws was and still is disappointing. High standards for the one and only 🐐. His body language is different especially when compared to guys like LeBron or Luka. No blaming after that Horry 3 from the corner. "He saved me tonight." He always praised the guys around him when they deserved it. I remember him saying they were using him as a decoy for that final play. And man, watch Kobe being VERY concerned about him and thus not being there for the helpside.

That fadeaway mj did is the toughest shot in basketball to hit consistently .that’s what makes mj the goat . He was just more talented and gifted than other players. .Kobe is just a cheap imitation of Jordan , he has no style or moves of his own .

@@Propain4eva Nah. Kobe is like a synonym of Jordan. Not the same, but, similar. Lebron is an antonym. He is basically all the hype and popularity of Jordan without actually WINNING!!! Last I checked, Jordan never had a teammate push him toward the opposing player who had the ball and say “play defense!” But that did happen to Leswept.

Kobe got him back later this year, but in this game Kobe could not guard a 39yo Jordan at age 23 (arguably Kobe's best year). Cant imagine what happen if they met in Jordan's prime.

I mean. Ur watching Jordan highlights. Kobe blocked one of his fadeaways this game. And Jordan was mostly guarded by Rick Fox. Kobe also had 27 to Jordan’s 25. Then he torched them for 55 the next time they played. At one point he had 40 and the Wizards had 41 lol. Let’s not act like Wizards Jordan was on Kobe level.

@@sypherd.3771 Jordan came off the bench in this game in case you haven't realized. He also shot 9/14 at 64% while Kobe was 8/21 at 38%. Talk about efficiency. No disrespect to the late Kobe, an all time great himself, but let's not act like he was on Jordan's level at any age.

@@johnwings6584 i notice you didn’t post the numbers from the other game I mentioned. Go ahead. I’ll wait... Nah for real. I’ll wait right here while you go look those numbers up and post them. Bc using this game alone to try to prove ur point is terrible logic. The very next time they played it was an entirely different story. So your analysis would have to change entirely. Matter of fact, I’ll do it for you…bc I know for a fact you won’t do it. That’s the problem with y’all emotional basketball stans. You hate facts. But here you go. Jordan - 23 points, 10/20 50% fg L and he started this game btw. Not that it matters. Kobe - 55 pts, 15/29 51%fg, 9/13 69% 3pt before Steph Curry opened the floor up, freed up the spacing, before rules like “the defender has to allow the shooter space to land.” I mean damn. “Talk about efficiency.” Lol FOH. Like I said, let’s not act like Wizards Jordan was anywhere close to Kobe’s level. That’s just stupidity. You and I both know the only thing you can do from here is try to go back and compare Jordan’s prime to Kobe’s. You’ll start talkin about Bulls Jordan and Kobe having Shaq and blah blah blah bc you know exactly what I said was true. Wizards Jordan doesn’t belong in any Jordan or Kobe discussion. Period. Stop the nonsense
