Jerry West is arguably the best evaluator of talent as a GM the NBA has seen. He built the 80s Showtime Lakers, the Shaq-Kobe Lakers, the Pau Gasol Grizzlies, helped build the Splash Bros Warriors, and today’s Clippers. He played with Wilt and Baylor, played against Russell’s Celtics, and has been evaluating players since the late 70s, it speaks volumes for him to place Jordan in another category from the other greats.

If Jordan starts saying "I" a lot, for example, "I put in the work", I get job done, Im the main reason we won 6 rings, I'm the best player the NBA has seen, I put myself first over anybody," .. all that is true, but a man like him understand weak minded people like you and most can't handle the in depth truth cause it'll cause you to see yourself. LMAO yall are jokes. MJ couldn't play point guard. He couldnt make plays. Do you really understand "individual“ talent??? He was a shooting guard that played defense. That's it LMAO. The guy has ZERO triple doubles in all his finals LMAO. That stat alone in the finals, tells you what a player contributes to the team. KING Lebron can play 4 positions, switching anytime. PG, PF, SG and SF. He can make rebounds and assist. He can play defense too that's why he has be selected for NBA defensive first team.

i think he's got the perfect combination of skill and athleticism. it's very rare to have both at a high level but what made him 1 of 1 is that he was doing it on a totally different level than everybody else. quick as a cat, footspeed in the open floor, crazy balance, high elevation on jumpshots, hangtime in the air which was 2nd to none, and could get off the floor so easily. combine that with arguably the best skillset, the most competitive player the league has seen, and a mentality/drive like no other. people can call it over exaggeration if they want but mj had it all.

Thank you Mr. West. There's a difference in jumping high, jumping quick, jumping off either foot, gathering etc. MJ could jump any way however whenever as quickly and as high. He often didn't need to gather his steps to time his jump, he didn't need to take an extra dribble after a quick move, he didn't need to switch sides or hands, he just jumped. Which is why he made the game look so easy and some of his moves simple to the untrained eye. A casual will overlook his game and dismiss it as "oh, well... he didn't have handles, only 2 dribbles", "or he wasn't contested in that jumper". It takes a different level of skill to score when the defense is trained to stop you with only 2 (or less) dribbles while there are traps, zones, double and triple teams focused on you. It takes great skill and athleticism to leave someone that hasn't slept the night before guarding you, defenders that have tons of tape on you and their sole mission is to stop you flat footed. That shit aint easy to do. West is perhaps the GOAT scout, easily the most respected scout of all time with tons of experience. When he speaks everyone should take notes and listen.

Jerry West not only one of the greatest NBA players all-time himself. But people sleep on him heavily as a NBA executive/GM. What he did for the Lakers in the 80s And early 00s Lakers and Grizzles. And then being the Warriors executive and winning championships 2015 and 2017.

Just an observation based off of what I've read and heard from people over the years.

Jerry West characterizes that cat agility in MJ spring well. If you check out the nearly free throw dunk MJ does on a break vs Dan Marjerle - he literally doesnt plant his foot down to elevate; he just taps this tippy toes on the floor and soars the distance for them dunk. Truly amazing.

On top of all MJ's skill, killer instinct, and athleticism is the fact that he also had a near 7ft wing span as a guard with a hand size that's top 10 of all players to ever play in the NBA. He really was a perfect storm, there will be no other and honestly it only deminishes other players trying to compare them to him. GOAT

He has confirmed what we all knew already, Jordan is the greatest of all time. Jordan has been widely regarded as the GOAT ever since he retired by the vast majority of players, commentators, and spectators. So Lebron calls himself the GOAT, for him to actually be greater than Jordan, (I repeat, Jordan has been regarded as the GOAT for a long time now), he needs to have accomplished more career achievements, surpassed Jordan in skill level, and needs to have made a more notable stamp on basketball than Jordan. Jordan has more Championships, more MVP's, more finals MVP's, more scoring titles, and a defensive player of the year so clearly he hasnt surpassed Jordan. To watch both players, and compare pure highlights Jordan is light years ahead also. Jordans pure weight of unbelievably skillful plays dwarfs Lebrons. Lebron has some amazing dunks and impressive buzzer beaters yet does not come close to Jordans artistic, graceful, impossible plays of which there are hundreds. Jordan is simply beautiful to watch in everything he does. The perfect jump shot, the graceful and effortless athletic plays, the ability to hang in the air like no other in history. Lebron is big and strong, but certainly not beautiful to watch, not effortlessly skillful and mesmerising like Jordan.

I met Jerry West, when I was playing college basketball. We had a game in Los Angeles and I was able to shake his hand and get a signature from him. This was way back in 1991 !!! Our team was on a slight vacation, before playing a game, and we were all at the Rose Bowl or something like that. It was in the area in Hollywood, where they have all these flowers flown in from Brazil and they decorate these oversized vehicles and cover them with flowers. It was very interesting....

I'm from Slovenia and recently had a conversation with a guy who said Luka could end up as the greatest of all times. I simply replied with no way. And there is a simple reason why. You have to play both ends of the floor. Luka went from bad to average defender but will never be able to be elite where he's winning defensive player of the year awards. Micahel was such a freak of nature, such a competitive guy that he grinded even on defense to the point where he was the best player even on that side of the court.
