Steve Smith once said he's the best in the league at stopping MJ. So when MJ played against him and hit his first basket, he told Smith "48". Smith was puzzled "wah...?" MJ hit another basket. He told the swingman "46". So the game passed he counted backward, all the way down to zero, ending the game with a total of 48 points. That's the best trash talking story.

I think I heard many players say Mj laughed and joked with players on court, but to get in their heads, because only he knew the onslaught getting ready to take place , and unfold on the court. So glad I'm not 10, or 20 years old. At 41, I remember waiting and watching the schedules and TV guides to see when and who the Bulls played, made sure I didn't miss those games, because I always anticipated Jordan to come out like a black cloud on the league . Thank God I watched prime time games on regular tv, no you tube feeds, & hoping its in 4k,at that. THE Real live games.. Jordan was something to behold, a acrobat ,a trend setter(everyone in every country wanted a shirt, shoe or something with the Jordan logo), a Global Icon, a menace on court, a scary sight to see with the ball if your the opponent team, the score tied, 10 seconds on the clock and he has the dammm ball.. that was a scary sight for his opponents, but for a fan??? Sheeed. We lived for those moments right???😅

MJ was the one and only reason I ever watched NBA games. I never cared much about the game, still don’t, but MJ himself was a sight to behold, a force to be reckoned with who, as these stories tell you, could elevate his game in the blink of an eye. People are going to debate, but MJ is far and away all time #1. I had the fortune of seeing Kobe play in HS as we grew up close to one another. As far as his NBA career, he’s #2. As far as LeBron, he may be #3, but Wilt Chamberlain might have something to say about that. Never saw him play, but the stories about him definitely put him in the top 5 all time if not ahead of LeBron at #3. Not hating on LeBron...clearly he is a great player, but the one thing those other 3 have on him is that they did it alone. They didn’t clamor for other players or hop around looking for championships. They did it. MJ and Kobe both did have an excellent supporting cast who did their jobs when called upon, but neither of them whined when shit didn’t go their way. They elevated their game to rise to the occasion.

Kobe is the only one that compares, even with the trash talking stories. They are very similar. Players didn’t want to trash talk Kobe because he played better like that. Same as Jordan. The way I see it is: Jordan is 1A and Kobe is 1B as the greatest of all time. Lebron is up there, but the same reason why Jordan was considered better than Magic, is the same reason why Kobe is greater than Lebron. Just a different beast.

teachmehowtodoge how do you know he moved to a team because of trash talk? Wouldn’t the trash talk just intensify because of the ridicule he gets from “ not being loyal.” Also, it took 4 “ trash talkers” to try and beat him when he was only 23, he won tho. There are levels, just because lebron is more reserved, just like Lenord and dame, that doesn’t make them less of a player just because they have less things to quote.

dikembe said he took 7 years to dunk on him, that is really long, you know? by the way i just saw phil jackson laughing after that dunk on mutombo, as if he knew sth about it. i look at miller iverson and kobe, even magic. they were obsessed with copying, challenging or defeating him. Jordan lifted many men to play and watch nba by setting impossible standards. rip kobe
@crownkearney9614 жыл бұрын
samuel muiruri not magic. Magic was before Jordan & won rings. They’re competitors tho. So of course he wanted to beat his competition.
@samuelmuiruri47044 жыл бұрын
i believe magic has said he was the king, so when Jordan came and said he was the new king magic would disagree but at one point he was like. yup, my throne is gone. that was the context of their competition. am the king, no, you are not. your reign is over. something along those lines.
@ineedajob45294 жыл бұрын
samuel muiruri yeah but magic didn’t want to be like him, he was just respecting greatness
@samuelmuiruri47044 жыл бұрын
yes, yes, i have nuanced my argument by saying, copying, challenging or defeating Jordan. magic was already finishing his career. it was more of a succession struggle between two greats, if u see what i mean. like i said magic said he will not concede the throne, Jordan said, no i am now the king. for younger players like iverson, garnett , miller and kobe it was , am the new kid on the block
@ineedajob45294 жыл бұрын
samuel muiruri my bad I didn’t really get you point, thanks for clarifying tho

Funny thing is he always backed it up. When he said if I could show you the tape nobody would doubt that. I'm glad the footage was available to prove that it really did happen the way he said that and OJ Mayo also said it was true. 🤣

Besides following most of MJ's career and the Bulls games during the late 80s -1998 and of course his Wizard days. I have one very very special memory I will never forget . Top 4 Live games I have witness when I was a teenager and in my early/mid 20s that I like to share my story with all of you. I grew up in Vancouver, BC CANADA Kobe & Shaq - LA in Seattle (drove there with few friends) Lebron, Wade & Bosh - Miami BIG 3 in Washington (stayed in Washington DC with my cousins for half a year and went to the game myself and purchased a ticket at the booth $95 USD) JORDAN & PIPPEN - Chicago in Vancouver (1995 & 1997) 1997-98 season second time I sat lower section about 18-20 rows behind the hoop. My friend's brother sold me his ticket for double the price that it was worth back at that time. I bought it without thinking. Went alone. Wore the entire red Bulls warm up track suit and brought my ball. Good game. 1995-96 season FIRST TIME in my life witnessing JORDAN, PIPPEN, RODMAN and DA BULLS. Went to stadium really early. Had nose bleed ticket but met up with my high-school coach before the game and he had season tickets to NBA & NHL games. He was more of a hockey fan. He took off his season pass tag and placed it over my head and neck.Then said, "I know how much this means to you and it might even be once in a lifetime opportunity for you to see your loved idol." I wanted to breakdown and still can't thank him enough for doing that. I am 41 years old now and my coach and I still keep in touch. His ticket was about SIX ROWS BEHIND THE HOOP. As the Bulls came jogging out of the tunnel I stood up like many did and I felt this crazy energy, heat and I was shaking. Had goose bumps. I just can't explain the once in a lifetime feeling. Saw Jordan coming out from the tunnel. I never sat down during their warm up. Saw his doing his routine, four bounce, spin the ball foul shots, grip the ball one hand layups and of course his fadeaways!! Long story short a Grizzle player said some crap to Jordan and MJ turned it up and made 19pts in last few minutes of the game with an up and under layup, jumper, fadeaway, 2 steals led to 2 dunks etc. Bulls won. What a game!! WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!! Thanks Coach!! side note: The GOAT MJ brought Nike back to life (basketball sneaker sales) from the shadow or Converse and Adidas (DJ & Magic era). When Nike became Nike Air/Flight then became AIR JORDAN then sky was the limit.
