Dominique is great and super underrated, but I don't think he'd be the best today. The passing just isn't there. Great scorer, very good rebounder, but most of the GOATs are really good to great passers (even centers like Kareem, Wilt, and Russell were really good passers) and Wilkins was never that, imo. It's the most scalable skill and without his offensive ceiling is capped.

What people need to realize is that Jordan is nowhere near overrated. MJ in today's NBA would break the league! Imagine this guy in a pick and roll heavy offense... you could essentially run him at point guard and he would quite possibly average a triple double
@robertgrubb9508
@robertgrubb9508 7 жыл бұрын
Domingo W. Triple doubles come so easy nowadays. So yeah definitely without question. The problem in Jordan's era for guards was rebounding with four seven-footers in the lane. The game was played through post offense and isolation. Very few long rebounds from 3-point shots that we get continually in today's game. What I'm really getting at is Westbrook in this era averages five rebounds. It would probably be ridiculous how good Michael Jordan would be now.
@saturndual32
@saturndual32 7 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Guys like Jordan, Drexler, Pippen, Bird, Magic, Hill, Kidd, Penny, etc would have averages closer to a triple double than they did on their time. Lebron is getting older, and the past few seasons he has been closer to at tripdub average than in his prime. And 6'4 guys like Harden and Westbrook have no problem getting close to 10 rebounds per game., the past couple seasons.

MJ's first-step was the best first-step we've ever seen, and maybe ever will. This is why MJ could consistently get 8-12 free-throws per game. When you blow-by defenders with your first step, it IMMEDIATELY puts the defense in a vulnerable position. Lebron may have better top-speed than Mike, like running full court Lebron might be going faster than Mike, but Lebrons first step isn't ANYWHERE near as explosive as Mikes. And, in a HALF COURT offense, I'd MUCH rather have a guy with an explosive first-step.

@mycommentpwnz

@@courtneywhite6036 40 is a "sprint." Meaning, the first few steps are the most important. Obviously Mike would win in a 40 yard dash. HOWEVER, if you let LBJ and MJ run to FULL SPEED, LBJ would probably be faster/higher-MPH. Notice how Usain Bolt is very tall? Notice how nobody under 5'10 wins the 400M? Long Legs usually equals faster top speed, but slower off the line.

Man, I was just thinking about the '95-'98 Chicago Bulls: Forget about the offense for a second, but that might have been the best defensive team of ALL-TIME. You had MJ, Pippen, Rodman, and Harper, those guys are all tier-1, top-notch, A+++, All NBA defenders. (They were all fast, 6'6 - 6'9, could jump, with long arms, talk about a defensive nightmare.) That team could play-with, and potentially beat, ANY team that's ever taken the court. Even Olympic teams. Furthermore, while they didn't have any really good centers, they had 3, big-bodied, 7'+ footers, who would just foul you, beat you up, and try to wear you down....I honestly think those Bulls teams could hang with the current Warriors roster, even though we've never seen a super-team like that before. (Curry, Klay, Green, Boogie, KD, 5 all-stars.) Personally, I suspect the winner between the 2018 Warriors and '97 Bulls would be decided SOLELY on how physical the game was allowed to be. With the rules in the 80's-90's, the Bulls would win, they could hand-check, and body-up against Curry and KD (two guys who are VERY skinny, and easy to push around.) But, if the rules were that of today's game, where defenders can't even breath on offensive players, the Warriors would win...
@jimjim3979

@@cedricthomas9069 you mean Kevin Durant.. or Steph Curry.. or maybe the Greek freak? Lol etc etc etc LeBron has challengers to who's the greatest in the league. Michael Jordan didn't. Everyone in the league knew that Michael Jordan was the greatest in the league to the day he retired as a Chicago Bull in 1998...... Maybe this is due to the fact that LeBron is older; although he has kept himself in incredible shape. Or maybe it's his lack of killer instinct..... Maybe he makes the wrong decisions that the wrong times, Maybe. Who knows....We do know that LeBron's legacy took a big hit once Kevin Durant came to Golden State and led them to humiliate LeBron and the Cavaliers with those two championship losses in a row after the Cavaliers 2016 miraculous & unlikely championship..... (Where Uncle Drew / Kyrie Irving made the championship clinching shot). K D put himself in the conversation for the greatest in the league after those championship defeats over LeBron James and the Cavaliers. TWO years in a row. LeBron's legacy and rep hasn't really recovered... And now people are calling Steph Curry the best player in the league LOL. I know man, it's fickle, it's whoever wins the latest championship -all of a sudden they're the greatest in the league, LOL

Michaels 92 season was easily his most effortless season. In other words, MJ was the best MJ in 1992 and not 1991. Also Pippen was best Pippen in 1992 which made MJ’s job even easier. The Bulls were stronger in 1996 and 1997 than 1992 , regardless of what Ainge or anyone else thinks, the 1996 and 1997 Bulls were stronger than the 1992 Bulls, but MJ and Pippen, Grant and even Rodman had he been a Bull in 1992, were all the best versions of themselves. It’s just Rodman Pippen Jordan Kukoc is > Grant Pippen Jordan Cartwright. So sorry. But back to the message... - 67-15 his best regular season record yet - He averaged I believe 30.1 points which was his third lowest after shortened second season and rookie season but his team still won the most games - Pippen was officially prime - Jordan was in his athletic prime, physical prime and though 96 was effortless and 97 very close as well, Jordan could score 30.1 on over 50% still exhausting himself less, taking more jumpers than before 1992 but also being able to physically get to the rim more efficiently than Jordan in 1996 or 1997 where I believe he averaged 30.4 and 29.7 respectively, which puts 1992 between those two season in PPG but he also did it more smoothly and efficiently, he wasn’t over 50% again after 93 I’d guess off my head right now. Now the playoffs were a different story, the Knicks hit em square in the nose in game 1 and their season really began. The 92 playoffs were Chicago’s toughest. They lost 7 games after the first round, went 7 with New York and their dynasty was almost derailed as unexpectedly and faster than it even started. The Cavs and Blazers went 6 each with Chicago and were tied 2-2 both series. But MJs regular season was MJ and Chicago’s apex of the 88-94 era, he could do less, at his best and Chicago would do the rest. They won a championship in Chicago Stadium, they went back to back, they survived New York’s surprise attack, and distinguished the last two “teams of the 90’s in CLE and POR. Examples of this effortless ability from MJ and Chicago were the Game 7 vs NY when they won 110-81 in a sudden death situation. Game 1 vs Portland when they won by the second half of a finals game and MJ went for 35 points in the first half, hit six threes at an automatic clip, but could finish with 39 points and call it a day instead of going for another 60 + like the days prior to 1991 when Michael’s efforts weren’t a guaranteed win much less a blowout. And Game 6 vs Portland when Jordan could sit on the bench start of the 4th Qtr and let Pippen and the benchman erase a 15 point deficit to steal a second title going away. The Bulls and MJ were their most explosive prior to 1996 and 1997 when they took what 92 did and made it a normality. 1993 they did not have this same energy and swagger until 60-70 games into the season and in the playoffs when they again showed that surging raging Bull ability. Again New York took sails out of Chicago’s stampede but after returning home Chicago wrapped up 4 straight and then put Phoenix in a chokehold off jump and merely lost two games due to Phoenix’s explosability but only in desperation and not in rhythm.

I think the bulls woulda swept their first three championships if they didnt play racial politics & had BJ Armstong getting the bulk of the PT at the 1. But, it worked out for em in the end i guess.

Reincarnation escape 1 Look at the two guys scoring at will...it's Jordan and Nique, these aren't scrubs man. If you want to see physicality for that era a 9 minute video showcasing offensive highlights isn't one of them.

Reincarnation escape 1 In a game yea but they damn sure ain't gonna be lighting it up every single night, Mike and Nique never played in these soft ass rules that cater to more scoring to "open up the game more". You youngins just base your opinions on older players by watching highlights, but let me go peep out a defensive highlight video and then complain about being no offense in that era....

Anthony Apodaca more physical doesn't mean better. Today's defense is better, especially the total team defense but 1 on 1 d was maybe better in the 90s though.

Rumeal Robinson had a lot of rough edges to his game, but dude was an athletic freak almost on par with Nique, Jord and Pip. He used to power dunk in traffic over centers from time to time. I was impressed with Rumeal when I watched Hawks games, but the coach absolutely hated his undisciplined play.
