This was one of my favourite episodes, I loved how Mivhael and KITT raced the Red Rooster especially the end when Michael left him standing at the end.I agree that jump into the electric wire was awesome.

"Incredible huh?" Great video Joe. This was one of 12 episodes my parents recorded for me on VHS. I think they labeled it "Red Rooster." Lol. Fun fact - Michael McManus would also star along Hasselhoff in season 1 of Baywatch as Sid Wilson. The more you know! 🤓👍

I've heard rumors that the red rooster Camaro was the same car driven by Tom O'Mally in Custom Made Killer. It was of course white in that episode. My guess is it was one of the train wreck cars and was customized after custom made killer.

Funnily enough I was watching this very episode today as I’ve been slowing going back through the whole series again for the zillionth time. First time I saw The Nineteenth wasn’t until 2002/2003 when I finally had access to Sky Channel Bravo who showed the series nonstop every day of the week for about 6 years.

24:50 - If you look closer, the shot of the pedals are from one of the 83 T-Bird drone cars from "Knight of the Drones", but the dash and gear indicator are not, it look to be from a GM car, but not sure which, definitely not a Camaro.

Whatever it was, what annoyed me as a teenager already knowing a bit about cars and electronics, was that no electronic device could have done it back then. I mean, today you have drive by wire, but back then throttle was literally a steel link, and gearboxes were hydraulic controlled, so by what law of physics KITT could have controlled the Camaro remotely? Also, this creates a logic f... up. If he could do it, then why didn't he disabled Rooster's engine and overtook him easily, and went for a jump instead?

Mr. C! My favorite character in this episode! Another one of my favorite episodes! 2 of my favorite quotes in this episode is When Red is trying to pry open KITT's hood and KITT says, "Back to your barnyard Rooster, I have work to do" and another one of my favorite quotes is when Michael sneaks in to the hotel and the champagne music plays and Michael says, "Would you turn that champagne stuff off!" 'Pinto' in Spanish slang means ' small package ' . The name of the vehicle was a joke three. Like in France, where the ' Nova' basically meant ' No Go' that Chevy was selling back in the day.

Pinto in Spanish means something that has colors. No va, two different words, means what you said in Spanish.
@skylined5534
@skylined5534 2 жыл бұрын
Also, the No va thing was pertinent to Spanish speaking countries, not France! I also believe this is why you won't officially find a Mitsubishi Pajero in anywhere that speaks Spanish as it doesn't translate too well 😄
@allangibson2408
@allangibson2408 2 жыл бұрын
@@skylined5534 Pajero is understandable as a name - it’s the location of the Mitsubishi 4x4 manufacturing plant in Japan (and has been since the 1950’s when Mitsubishi started building Jeeps under license).
@skylined5534
@skylined5534 2 жыл бұрын
@Allan Gibson It's the name of the plant, it's not the location. The location is Sakahogi, Gifu Prefecture. And regardless, the word pajero in Spanish has meant what it's meant for significantly longer than Mitsubishi have produced motor vehicles.

To Joe and The Knight Rider Historians, I believe a year ago I had asked a question pertaining to The Red Rooster at some of the KR groups on Facebook because I thought that it was one of the shipment cars that was involved in that train derailment along with the Firebird T/A, and Nick Nugent answered my question, and he'd said that it was a Barris Kustom, and it was a 1983 Camaro.

The scene in the episode where the antagonists find Jamie hiding under a table after she sneezes from the tipped over pepper shaker is similar to the scene from *Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death* where the antagonists find Liberty hiding under a table after the tape recorder that she is using to record the conversation automatically stops after reaching the end of the tape. Also, I remember the scene where the Mötley Crüe song *Shout at the Devil* starts playing on the radio.

Lang Ranch was developed with houses (now priced between $1.2-1.6M) in the mid 90’s. There’s still a lot of open space and hiking trails there, but not really a place a studio could film a car race scene. I used to live in an apartment right there, and actually drove right past Lang Ranch today to avoid a backup on the highway. The area, and schools, are still called Lang Ranch. I never even realized they filmed scenes out this far for Knight Rider, though it’s within the “30 mile zone” for filming. (Area around Hollywood where studios could film without incurring additional labor costs for the added distance. A 30 mile radius of Hollywood was agreed upon to be considered “local” for filming.)

Good commentary! This is my favorite episode. The actress that plays Jamie is also the voice of Francine Smith on American Dad. My thought on the Red Rooster is that it was made up for the show. The "blower" housing on the hood is just stuck on and clearly fake. The dash shot when the Rooster is moved back is from an early 80's Oldsmobile Cutlass. The end race between KITT and the Rooster is overcranked and the people who are walking on the sidewalk are walking faster than normal.

That turboboost over the Camaro always impressed us. That was amazing. Precise and huge. I expect the Camaro was a train wreck car. Also great KITT didn't nose dive so much that it obviously demolished the car with parts flying off. Sure it buckled and destroyed the car but when watching it on TV back then a kid probably wouldn't notice the bent front since most people were watching KITT "barely" land in front of the Camaro and not on top of it! The angle and zoom of the camera made it look really really close! Also, the KITT burning rubber leaving the dual stripes during the race start is awesome. You can tell it's an automatic car and they left some real audio

When it hits the street just before that final duel at the end of the episode, the front end of the hero car hits the tarmac quite hard, you can actually hear it. It's a close match but Hasselhoff's mouth isn't saying Champagne stuff. Joe, do you have any copies of the script for this part? Edit: I just clocked that little Mk1 Ford Fiesta at 10:59 , a shame it got blown up! It's great to see clips and snippets from TV programmes you watched as a kid but it's so much better when you've got a bunch of dedicated people bringing fascinating and obscure facts and also preserving not just film and information but physically preserving items from small set pieces to actual cars and trucks! What you do is amazing 😊 P.s. did you ever catch that bizarre Samsung home advertisement featuring the mighty Hoff and KITT? There was a bit where KITT calls David an 'ungrateful w*nker' (the missing letter being 'a'). Now this is a pretty derogatory term here in the UK so I'm not sure how it made it in! Am Ende, wenn der Bösewicht im Kofferraum eingesperrt ist, ist das Nummernschild des Micro Jam-Bildschirms ein anderes, das am Fahrzeug angebracht ist. Kleiner Fehler, aber sichtbarer :)

In that car show scene, there's a C3 corvette in white that has the same hood scoop as the one in Corvette Summer.

One of my favorite episodes! I did always find it funny that they were using 1/4 mile track cars on dirt road course, but then again, it was the 80’s. Also, about the Roosters Camaro, my gut tells me it was made for this episode. I could be wrong, but the cheesiness of that car with its fake bond on supercharger leads me to think it was made for the show.

I am pretty sure it's the same camaro from the previous (in filming order) episode Custom Made Killer. I have read that somewhere before, maybe on IMCDB.

@@phoenixblack1220 it won't let me post the link but we had a discussion about this car on imcdb about 15 years ago. The main pic is the white one from Custom Made Killer with this one appearing in the thread. Someone said it couldn't be the same car as the one in CMC was destroyed by the train. I pointed out that the car destroyed was likely a 1:8 model, which was correct according to the commentary knight rider historians did on that episide.

@@pdennis93 you are correct, it was a 1:8 scale car that was wrecked. Also, and I might be mistaken, I believe Joe said there were two of them, which makes sense that there are two of the roosters cars, and again, both custom made killer and the rooster were Berlinetta’s.

16:45 I am not sure. But I know it's something you also get a kick out of. Shoul'nt it be "Eject Left" on driver's side and "Eject Right" on passenger side? I guess "Turbo Boost" could get a pass on. I dunno, Just something I thought may had been a boo boo. Thought I would point it out. LOL! :P

Bothers me too! But makes sense you want to keep both of those controls near each other, _and as far away from the passenger as possible_. Couldn’t figure this out until I read your comment. Thanks!

I did read your book, the one on Amazon. It was a good book, I learned a lot. By the way, I thought Voodoo Knight was not bad. I would not put it on my favorite list, but I liked it.

The roll bar in the VW thing is distinctive. Doesn't look like it hit the Jeep too hard. That fence in the current pic of the restaurant means it's about to be demolished itself. Got any ideas for more fake license plate numbers? uhh.... 563? Boy what a fake supercharger on the rooster Hey KITT can always re-park himself
