I am from a rural area in an European country. It is a poor area and there isn't any good jobs and most of them are and were mostly for men, so a lot of times older generations, like my mother who is in her 50s and older, would be housewives. But the work they did and do wasn't just being at home baking cakes, while wearing a sun dress. It implied house work, farming, raising animals for food, killing those animals, picking and chopping wood, gardening, washing clothes, etc. It was and is not a easy work and most of the time you will not look good and all done up. And also most of the time my mother wasn't even home, so I would end up being alone at home or would go to the work fields with her and play around with mud and plants. This trad wife bs only applied to 1950s white american housewives that lived in the suburbs and were middle to upper middle class, if even that.

Honestly, No, just no. If the question is whether I want to live a single income household, the answer is yes. I already work full-time and do my own cooking and chores. I want to give someone else a life of happiness and peace. I think raising kids and being a homemaker is a job by itself. In my family, even when my family was all farmers in my grandparent's time and before, the husbands and wives still had distinct roles. I don't want to live in some modern pig-in-a-cage setup where I have no time for the gym (and a job that's fully sedentary) and no energy to do anything at all beyond work and obligations. I don't want to live in a large house for the sheer hell of it. I am not willing to split 3 jobs among 2 people, simple as that. I fully agree and sympathize with the women who would rather get a cat and die alone than live like that, and I feel the exact same way. I don't want to be in a perpetual arms race/competition of work and "effort" with someone I'm supposed to love, which appears to be inevitable today. I already clean my own shit, but it will never be clean enough. I cook, but the meals won't be complicated enough. Everything I do, no matter how objectively good I am at it, will be assumed to be inherently shitty because of how heavily reified gender roles still are in spite of the modern obligations. The reason that families can't survive on a single income because women entered the workforce in such high numbers and started competing for jobs that otherwise would have went to men, so labor became less valuable. It's basic supply and demand. If less of the population is working, labor becomes more in demand and obviously it would be easier to survive on one income.

Fun fact: The English word "Cuckold" derives from the old French word for the cucoo, and makes a reference of the bird's habit of laying eggs in another bird's nest without their knowledge. On the other hand, while the origin of the Italian (and Spanish) term "Cornuto/Cornudo" to refer to a victim of infidelity is unclear, it is believed to have come from the medieval practice of the king or feudal lord having the right to bone the wife of whomever he pleased on their wedding night, and to indicate they were doing the deed a stag's skull would be set on the door so they wouldn't be interrupted. So yeah, "cuckold" and "cornuto" share *no etymological ties whatsoever,* but it's in the Conservative's nature to make the most ridiculous shit up on the spot and spout it with outmost confidence.

„First night rights“ were stories you told to emphasize the cruelty of your enemies. It is part of that whole dehumanizing people thing. Marriage was supposed to be a „holy“ union between husband and wife. Breaking this is sacrilegious. Aka, the other side are evil and devil-worshippers, etc.
@CteCrassus10 ай бұрын
@@ArDeeMee And yet, it's something that still happened because the divine right of kings overrules all other rights on the basis that they have more swords than you do. In Spain the practice was officially forbidden by King Ferdinand in the 15th century, so it took quite a while for it to go away.

These guys are in love with a past that never actually existed. The Hays Code prevented anything "Anti-American" or remotely risqué from being shown in "Golden Age Hollywood" films. If you want to understand the impact it had and get a more accurate depiction of the era, read the literature of that time and criticisms of the glossy Hollywood depiction of America. Even ignoring the obvious racial injustice of the era, a common criticism from even mainstream society was that film and television rarely bore any resemblance to reality, being compared to the Soviet propaganda it was in opposition to. Cities were more dirty, poverty and crime were rampant, sexual assault and pedophilia were swept under the rug as victims were just as often blamed, and the nascent suburban ideal was more the exception than the rule. The poem "Howl" by Ginsberg is a better depiction of the era than any of the glossy films Hollywood put out. It's why the collapse of the Hays Code and the resulting "New Hollywood" of Kubrick, Coppola, Scorsese, etc. was such a big departure. Much of the impression we have of grimy 70s urban decay is a product of this creative dam bursting and allowing filmmakers to simply depict more realistic environments. Just compare The God Father to the relatively cheesy gangster films of the forties and fifties (not that there weren't outstanding classics during that era). Modern day conservatives, especially the self-hating millennials like Knowles, have simply fallen for the remnants of propaganda from a bygone age.

He pretends she said something totally different than what she actually said, makes fun of that, and then quickly moves on because a woman in a dress making fun of tradwives is honestly the best argument you can make against what he's arguing for. This is the kind of thing that makes gender so malleable. The sort of tradwife archetype as I know it can apply very easily to men as well. My proclivity towards domestic living and my love and sense of fulfillment is rooted in "traditional femininity". I'm trans. Personality-wise, people online often mistake me as a biological female as a result. That has its own complications in the social discourse, but the fact remains that the social construct of gender is incredibly easy to understand and if you're not hurting anyone, then what does it matter? I find value in my life in caretaking and I don't have to be a "real" woman to do so. I just also happen to be trans. Tradwives aren't exactly a static group unless you want to make it one and that's reflective of the person that does.

Fetuses with XY chromosomes will begin generating testosterone in the womb, which causes female sex organs to turn into male sex organs, but sometimes, that fails! If there are chromosomes that make the fetus indifferent to testosterone, you may have an XY “boy” or “girl” (depending on testosterone absorption) born, who will grow some male characteristics, but will actually have a womb.
