So to break it down: It seems like Ross utilized an AI tool to craft an rig of Michael using the summation of the 1,000 plus episodes of his show. He specifically instructed the AI to use a transparent background. Then he himself added the backgrounds for all the segments of the song, most of the time cutting out his face and super-imposing it on the subjects' of the individual backgrounds. I'd wager the AI isn't powerful enough yet to perfectly match the lyrics to funny images with good comedic timing. However, Ross did command the AI to move Michael's head in key moments (much easier to do via AI than manually editing it yourself) like at 2:35. Truly, a job well done to you Ross. Hats off

Pretty sure AI can't do alpha layers due to the way that Diffusion models work, so any backgrounds would've needed to be edited out. Easy enough by just requesting for solid colour backgrounds and chroma keying them out.
