I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Landon in person...I will always remember him fondly. I was running away from home. I took the train across Canada. Most of the way I was alone, but at some point beyond the end of Ontario track headed west this beautiful set of blonde kids came into the dinning car for lunch. The woman who was with them looked tired. After lunch the two blonde kids were running up and down the isles, playing and laughing. The woman who was watching them asked me if I would keep an eye on them while she went back to their car and checked on her sick husband. I said yes. Throughout the 3 days journey I had played with the kids often, keeping an eye on them for their mother many times and ate with the 3 of them in the dinning car. Near the end of our journey the children's mother said the boys father would li,e to thank me himself, but is unable to come to the public area as he is famous and hasn't been well for some time but the public at large has no idea, he would like to keep it that way. Then she asked if I would like to meet him...but she still had not told me who he was... The kids took me by the hand and led me to the car where their father was in bed. It looked like a hotel room. Had I not known by the sound and movement I was on a train I would have thought otherwise. He sat up and I recognized him immediately. Micheal Landon was in the bed in front of me. The kids I had been so happy to play with were his beautiful blonde kids from his second wife. He thanked me, tried to give me money but I refused to take it. I told him I had run away and why....he was the only adult I ever shared that truth with up until that point. He held me while I cried. He dried my tears. He also said that he wanted to apologize for all the bad men in my life who had ever harmed me. Even though he wasn't guilty, he said he could see my pain. My body language gave me away. He told me to forgive myself, it wasn't my fault. Nor was the shame mine to carry. He told me I should just set that burden down. It was never mine to own. Micheal landon was a great man, with a depth and wisdom beyond his years or any one lifetime. I will look forward to seeing him again in heaven. RIP

He dreamed of the perfect family alright, and that's why he loved Bonanza. A parent who loved those boys fiercely. Bonanza was so much more than a western the whole series was a metaphor for life. Thats where Michaels Journey began in my book. His writing was packed with family values, love decency compassion forgiveness. Michael is so so missed by many people. Thank you for this video.

His life wasn't bad at all. His childhood was difficult because his mother had emotional issues and she never showed him any love. However, his adult life was more than he could ever have hoped for - to use his own words. He had wonderful children and he was successful beyond his "wildest dreams", and he had countless friends and co-workers who loved him. We also didn't visit the results of our crappy lives onto or wives/husbands and/or children. Not everyone who had traumatic childhoods grew up to be poor fathers and husbnds.

What he left behind in his children and his works is a legacy to be proud of. The moral of the story is live your life to the very fullest, no matter how emotionally difficult your beginnings are. Love your family and your friends. Work hard. Play hard. Be a good person - and, if you take care of your body perhaps you will have longer than a mere 54 years on this planet. I used to love the man. but he took the crude humor in real life way too far. the way he treated the women in his life was absolutely awful. I think he was a misogynist. Karen Grassle said he used to use the c-word to refer to women generally and when they did scenes in their little house bedroom set, he made jokes about the smell of a woman's genitalia after sex. I no longer adore Michael Landon.
@sueannbellucci4304 Жыл бұрын
@Alice Schmid - It's very interesting that you would choose to believe these disparaging comments from a woman who has never said anything about this in the past 30 years. Not until, apparently down on her luck, she decided to write a book and thought this would sell a few more copies. There are many interviews she has given - including in this video- where she says only good things about him. And of course she is the ONLY one who has accused him of these things. Yet you choose to believe her and throw out all the other positive comments that people in this very video have to say about him. A misogynist? Hardly. He was a man of his times. I'm sure he would have evolved just like so many other men. AND women have over the past 20 years. Sadly, he didn't have the chance. I don't know who your heroes are but, for me - 1 bitter old woman is not going to color my opinion of this beautiful man. I'm going to side with absolutely everyone else who worked with him and his family and friends who loved him and still cherish his memory. ❤
