Michael Madsen is a legend. Reservoir Dogs is a classic as is Free Willy. I hope he’ll get to be in Tarantino’s last film along with Tim Roth, Harvey Keitel and Steve Buscemi.

I used to watch Free Willy alot as a kid. I was born on Vancouver Island, so Orcas were an interest of mine being near their natural habitat. The movie was great. I never realized he was the dad. I needed this. Blast to the past.

The Free Willy tangent is hilarious. ""Why the fuck am I this kid's father?" Free Willy needed "edge."

This is good to see. I've never seen an interview with Michael Madsen and occasionally I would catch a movie with him in it and wonder why I haven't seen much of him since his role in Kill Bill. Looking at his IMDb page he's been rather busy over the last 10 years, including coming back to do Tarantino's latest film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which I still haven't seen. As a pessimist who thinks the worst at all times, I assumed maybe at his advanced age his mental faculties weren't what they once were. I'm glad to see I was wrong. He still looks pretty good 67, as well. My mom was 68 when she died and she looked like she was turning into Gollum.
@penoyer7922 сағат бұрын
yeah i missed Reservoir Dogs. i remember seeing it in the paper playing at the theater but i had no idea. then after i'd seen pulp fiction i was at blockbuster looking for a movie and it was on the backwall with the new releases under the "Staff Picks" and i checked out the box, saw Quentin did it and grabbed it. instantly became one of the my favorite movies.

Not really underrated, he have done a Tons of self-sabotage to not get what he could've, even tho he still have been in multiple legendary movies, which is a lot. He's those oddball guys, like dude dropped out like was it two weeks before shooting of Pulp Fiction to do a from bad to mediocre western because it paid more. Then those kinda decisions have led him into a place of needing to at one point even lend money from QT (I would guess he just threw him a mill or something you know... 500k or whatever)(Propably with no need to pay back, QT seems to have like some forever softspot for Madsen). So I would not say he is underrated, he does very well what he does and have had his moments which people have apprechiated (and does). It just is more so that why would he be to mainstream more than oh that Tarantino guy, since he did make some seriously bad choices and got multiple new chances, showed again he is unreliable etc. So he is where he should kinda be. I always see these comments of this and that actor being underrated, even if they had their time in the limelight or there is reasons why mainstream do not quash over them. Like say Joseph Gordon Levitt is an amazing actor, but when he just got into the top. He wrote and directed his own movie, after that decided to take a hiatus to raise his kids which studios do not like (he was popping). Then came back and todays landscape is anyway horrible, so there really have not been golden opportunities for even his caliber of talent and aged guy.. That's kinda also those well.. whatcha gonna do about it things. Doesn't mean he would be underrated either.

@@dominicmurphy6856 Actually had this been the 1990s, they would have made for an excellent duo in a dark comdey crime-thriller; Madsen as the grizzled hitman sent to take out Baldwin, who is a thief who lifts money from a mob deal gone wrong, but Madsen finds out that Baldwin is the guy dating his sister, who goes on the run with Baldwin, which puts Madsen in a predicament where he ends up saving sister and inadvertently saving Baldwin from another hit squad sent after them. This leads to them teaming with Madsen to go take out the mob boss they stole the money from and try to make a break for it across the Mexican border; Madsen dies in the final shootout but warns Baldwin to be good to his sister. I would have paid to see that.
