@benschultz1784Ай бұрын
Various fun facts about this movie: - Many of the creative decisions (i.e., the coconuts for horses) were due to a lack of funds. The film's budget was completely overwritten by their famous friends like Elton John and Keith Richards looking for a tax write-off. - Graham Chapman was the only one with actual chain mail armor. Everyone else was wearing knitted garments painted silver. - Most of the castles are just the same castle in Scotland, filmed from different angles. - The ending is a play on the term "cop-out." On their TV show, if they couldn't come up with an ending for a skit, they'd just have someone come in in a police uniform and tell them to stop. The original ending was supposed to be Arthur and his Knights finding the Holy Grail in a Woolworth's department store, but they ran out of money. - Michael Palin was knighted in 2019.

Biss, if you ever want to try Monty Python again, their film "Life of Brian" (1979) is considered one of the greatest comedies ever. It's the hilarious story of Brian Cohen of Jerusalem, who gets mistaken for the Messiah in ancient Judea. 😆 The film is a great satire of politics, the Romans, terrorists groups, cult followings, and people in general, because they just can't stop arguing and fighting each other. "Monty Python's Flying Circus" was a comedy TV show in Britain from 1969-74. The six names you didn't recognize wrote and performed everything, and after the show ended they made three movies starting with this one. I think it's definitely the best, but some will tell you the second, The Life of Brian, was. One member, John Cleese, later wrote A Fish Called Wanda, a great comedy.

All the chainmail was actually woven wool, it was damp and the wool was wet and heavy, they were miserable. Also, a newt is a small amphibious lizard. 🦎 A shrubbery is a small bush. Tim the Enchanter was suppose to have a really long weird name but John Cleese could remember it, so he said Tim, they left it in the movie. I hope you do The Life of Brian next!!! Great job Biss!!

4:25 Pope Gregory IX, the 178th pope of the Catholic Church from 1227 to 1241, is often remembered for issuing a Papal Bull declaring that cats bore Satan’s spirit, which subsequently led to huge numbers of cats being killed throughout Europe. The mass extermination of the continent’s felines is considered an indirect cause of the Bubonic plague spread by fleas on rats, which would otherwise have been hunted by the dead cats. Beyond that poor decision, Gregory was characterised as being quick to anger and having a “harsh personality”.

What makes Monty Python comedy work so well is that it is the completely "irrelevant injection" (comments from the backseats) comments that come out of nowhere, and yet at the same time actually fit the character being portrayed, while adding a dash of "visual humor" that distracts you just enough to lose track of the dialog, only to have the characters KNOW that you just got distracted by the visuals going on and takes the interaction into a new direction. Because of this the audience sometimes find it "too distracting" and not funny, but those who GET it and understand the comedy STRUCTURE find it a complete laugh-riot. And while it CAN be a little "hit/miss" overall ... when it hits, it hits HARD and even when it misses, it isn't annoying...just indifferent.

Monty Python are British Comedy royalty. Holy Grail is one of the most quoted movies of all time. Life of Brian is considered their best movie. It was funded by George Harrison from The Beatles. There is also a TV comedy skit show. This is why their movies sometimes feel like a bunch of comedy skits put together. This is most apparent in their movie The Meaning of Life. It is my favourite of their movies. John Clesse made one of my fav TV shows Fawlty Towers and my fav comedy movie A Fish Called Wanda. A Fish Called Wanda is a must react. It is a mix of British and American actors.

The black knight scene will always be my favorite part. Marvel Strike Force has a Black Knight character and the names of his attacks are basically quotes from this movie.
