You killed it! Thanks for the ideas! I had to learn this song for a gig in a couple of days. This really helped me. Thank you!

Hey thanks so much! I never really set out to do cover videos, I started doing videos of my hands on the neck playing through songs because I would learn tunes for cover gigs, play them for a month or so, and then not play them for 4 months. And of course I would have to go back and learn them again .... painful! So I started doing videos for myself so that I could go back and consult the video for chord positions at least. As a musician playing cover tunes I think you will agree, we have probably forgotten half the songs we've had to learn in out lifetime. But thank you for the compliment, and this is pretty much how Landau played this song live, and he is a bad ass rhythm player. Peace.

Thank you so much! The gear I was using, pretty simple - Boss GT-8 floorboard right into the mixer. I did a lot of these videos for my own reference because I was always having to go back and relearn songs and asking, "where did I play this part or section on the neck?" So I made some reference videos to make the relearn experience a bit easier. And then one day just posted them for fun. Thank you again for the kind comment.

Michael could you please explain how you play this? This is my favorite song and I love your guitar on this part. Right hand: are you strumming or picking individual notes?
@gmmastro
@gmmastro 5 жыл бұрын
Hi say-cred. Thank you for your compliment! It's mostly strumming and a lot of muting with the right hand at the same time. There's a KZbin video of Michael Landau playing guitar with James Taylor live doing this song and I pretty much loved and stole his interpretation of it. Check it out - he's one of the best rhythm players alive. Here's a link to the performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4XOYYWGj7t1mKs

@@gmmastro I checked it out, and it's a great performance but wonder how you learned that part without even seeing his hands. Guess I will have to work on my left hand muting because you're doing it with what looks like such little effort with such clean tones. Thanks for replying.

These were just crappy videos I did for myself to remember hand position for cover songs (I was always learning songs for a band or show and then having to re-learn them months later after not playing them for too long) and this was easier for me to review then a chart or tab so, sorry I didn't chart anything!
