This song touches me. I never related to my dad. And now I have a 21 year old son and 18 year old daughter and I definitely get it. It's so hard to be a dad. I'm lucky my son wants to do things like camping and hiking with me.

Michael, Chris and I just finished the video and all we could do is look at each other, tears in both our eyes for the pain we know you went through as we also have shared the same pain having lost both of our parents. Then we smiled at each other knowing the tenderness of every one of the notes you sang was for no one except your dad and we were in awe with everyone who is fortunate enough to know you and the brilliance with which you CREATE. The best word that comes to our minds is; SLA'INTE which means so much more than Cheers, it literally mean"GOOD HEALTH TO YOU, BODY AND SOUL). We love you Brother!!!!!!!

Great song, great sentiment. Why can't we speak to the living with all the truth of a song? Before they die. Oh well I've enjoyed my relationship with my father and understand why he did what he did. His father's advice to him "The best thing you can do for your family is go to work." I am elated that I was taught to think for myself. Work is work, jobs are jobs, careers are careers. Though I have avoided responsibility all my life. (and trudged through a few a life's little traps) And that has made all the difference. I wouldn't change a thing. Life is grand . . . and it is suffering. Make of that what you will. = )

Just beautiful Micheal, so tender and sweet, remember when my father passed so young at 55. It is one of the most profound of all human experiences to put to rest our parents, and to remain in their absence, to be still in their Love

My Dad passed in late August. My brother and I took care of him for over 9 years after he had a pulmonary embolism and nearly died. My brother was especially devastated since he did more of the caregiving. I've grieved some but not like I want to. Mom died 12 years ago and I still haven't really gotten over that. This song and video hit home more than I can even explain. I'm not surprised Michael would write something this profound, I've been a fan since I heard the brilliant tune Just West of Eden in 1993. Thank you for sharing your heart and your own grief with us through your art. You're a brilliant artist who deserved so much more than you ever got. RIP Billy D Taylor, August 24, 2018.

I was going to embark on a journey to America when my father died in a car accident 94 only to be seen as a sign not to go of which I didn't go. I also wrote a song about my father. But anyhow my mother passed now only 9 months now but this song hits it home for me for I still finding it hard to let go. But Michael just as you've been to the edge to not go through for as i still fighting my demons of despair for the curses in my life & family. Just as I chatted with you some years ago in Myspace you said you would have a beer with me hopefully oneday in some bar. I wait in hope that one day you come to Australia & perform for I can definetly say you got one big fan right here in Melbourne Australia.

Michael, your songs have always been inspiring to me ever since I bought Gethsamane in 1993. Your writing has always hit me so much harder than anything written by Bruce Springsteen or Bernie Taupin. Your latest album stays on repeat at my house, car, and at work. You are truly gifted. All of your albums from 620 W. Surf through Willow Springs are very cherished by me. Sincerely, Jeff London, Kentucky (in the southeastern part of the state)
