Elric needs to be made into a movie. I know no movie could do him justice but.....Elric is the thing of movies and needs to be done.

@Zatoichi444 , Yep! Unfortunately, the fans of The Witcher and Hellboy would accuse an Elric movie or series of plagiarism! I love both the Witcher and Hellboy but "The Elric Saga", obviously inspired both IPs. I've been a fan of the Eternal Champion since I was a teenager back in the 1980s.

Without a doubt one of the greatest literary minds! The Elric saga has been a part of my life since I found the series in the early 1980's. Great to see Mr. Moorecock a living legend doing well.

Phenomenal output (100+ books) but some were written in only 3 days, and it shows. The best of Moorcock's heroic fantasy is up among the best ever written.

My signed copy of The Citadel of Forgotten Myths arrived today from Forbidden Planet, well packaged and protected. I'll be rereading my Elric books again with this one sandwiched into continuity. I've been a Moorcock fan since childhood marvelling at the book covers, then falling into his wonderful stories, having a signed Elric is a dream come true and something I'll treasure, thank you Forbidden Planet, its means a lot to me.

Got my copy of the Citadel of Forgotten Myths and I am planning to crack it open when Im done with my studies. Thank you very much for your contributions Mr. Moorcock. It's because of Elric that I got back into reading and its all thanks to a certain man from Arizona who recommended it to me and my dad who was always a big fan of Elric. He was overjoyed that I took an interest in the series and got me a copy of the first book. I enjoyed reading both the first book and Sailor on the seas of fate and I am sure I shall enjoy this knew installment of Elric of Melbibone. I wish you all the best Moorcock and thank you to the creator who got this meeting going.

The fact that he isn’t as well known as the people he inspired like Neil Gaiman and George RR Martin irks me beyond belief, he belongs up there with Tolkien, Robert E Howard, and other master fantasy writers.

@@domusavires19 Probably because he can't stop being insufferable and whining about his half-baked liberal politics at most opportunities
@domusavires192 жыл бұрын
@@ryan.1990 I guess I don’t know too much about his politics, I heard he was an anarchist or something. I mainly just pay attention to his books. There needs to be more conservative/libertarian fantasy and sci-fi writers. These genres seem to be infested with leftists. I know more conservatives that are creative than liberals who generally cannot think up anything original.
@timstrasser74482 жыл бұрын
@@domusavires19 there are more than enough libertarian writers out there, they just tend to be not good. Same goes for conservatives. Turns out having regressive ideas doesn't convert well into artisitc qualities.

For years I told people my two favorite fantasy writers are Michel Moorcock and Tanith Lee. Sadly nobody knew about them. It sooooo nice to see a resourgance of his work. It's so different from all the stuff that came before and after, even though they influenced many people who stayed away from mainstream McDonnald stories. Elric is just such an icon. The same with TL's Flat Earth books and the Vazkor/White Witch trilogy.

Elric of Melniboné, The Fortress of the Pearl, The Sailor on the Seas of Fate, The Weird of the White Wolf, The Vanishing Tower, The Revenge of the Rose, Bane of the Black Sword, Stormbringer. There is also the Dreamquest Trilogy (The Dream Thief's Daughter, The Skraeling Tree, and The White Wolf's Son) and a short-story collection of mostly non-Elric material entitled Elric at the End of Time. The new book (Citadel of Forgotten Myths), I believe is between Weird of the White Wolf and Vanishing Tower. Cheers!

Until 2014, the biggest magazine publisher in the UK. Founded in 1963, it was rebranded as Time Inc UK in 2014 and sold to Future Publishing in 2020. In its heyday (when Moorcock & Sumner worked there) it was a vast company, publishing hundreds of magazines and comics every week/month (including 2000 AD and Judge Dredd). For most of its existence, IPC and its thousands of staff were located in the 29 storey Kings Reach Tower building on the south bank of the Thames in London (Kings Reach Tower also doubled as Tharg's spaceship in 2000 AD).

Moorcock needs to fire his editor. So may issues (continuity, pacing, contradictory story lines and more) with the book that could have been fixed before printing. As printed The Citadel of Forgotten Myths is basically the first draft or what had potential to be a good story.
