I smoked for two years and stopped and never wanted a cigarette after that but I stop eating sugar about three times and went back.

If someone is addicted to a substance like sugar, they need to abstain from that substance. Addicts have a nearly impossible problem to solve and the success rate is very low.

agreed, once the genie is out of the bottle so to speak, once your brain is damaged by having the circuits overstimulated by junk food you cannot go back to having home-baked sweets with sugar flour salt and oil, etc. you need to go to only eating whole foods high fiber all real. no salt sugar oil, or flour. Moderate people who are barely damaged might be able to. but those of us that are already obese cannot eat processed food some of the time as a treat. it just primes the system to want more.

Sugar for me and the first two years of my oldest child was without and a year of my youngest. One day I lefted my sisters to fix them breakfast the put sugar In the cream wheat that one time. They would eat it after i gave in and start putting sugar and start giving them sugar. Why I don’t know. I know it was dangerous.crazy

Too much of it leads to a spike in insulin which causes inflammation which is bad news for your arteries. Sugar of course is way way way worse but just because it's not as bad as sugar that doesn't mean you can get away with it. The ideal amount would be less than 20g of Carbs per meal 3x a day. If you have no risk factor for Diabetes, and you are physically active then you can somehow make it to 40g per meal as long as you abstain from sugar.
