I hope Vernon makes the team he was so close to medal last year.

I like your picks here. For the women I personally have Kaylyn Brown, Rosey Effiong, and also Alexis Holmes. Of course if Sydney were to run that would be a different story. Still, I think this is going to be a very young team for the women. For the men I have Norman, Norwood, and Deadmon. The complete opposite of the women with the older and more experienced athletes. Quincy Hall and Christopher Bailey would probably be my top picks to upset that grouping though. Edit: Shoot, I forgot to consider Gabby here. Of course she is a strong contender to make the 400m team as well.
@TheFinalLeg6 ай бұрын
Those are good picks. I think the event in general is very wide open so Rosey can likely get in the top 3

always appreciate these videos, I think a college 400 runner making it. what if brown goes pro now cuz she's only 19, 49.1 as a freshmen is insane.
@TheFinalLeg6 ай бұрын
I doubt Brown would go Pro now considering she is so young. Probably stay in the NCAA and get an NIL deal. But who knows, I agree its insane shes on the cusp of 48 seconds and still only a freshman!

The men's 400 final is going to be electrifying. Michael Norman has what it takes to win, but I was slightly disappointed he wasn't placed in a more challenging heat, which could be a disadvantage in the final. As many have pointed out, Vernon Norwood is a strong contender, and I'd love to see him in the top three. However, unless he delivers an exceptional performance, I see him finishing 4th. My top picks are Norman, Deadmon, and Hall, with Bailey and Norwood as my dark horses.
@carlottasealey94146 ай бұрын
I think Michael Norman will win it in under 44 seconds.

I agree there are few dominant athletes for the US in this event. The Arkansas girls were incredible this year, but of course it's been a long season for them and will they be in top form for the trials, probably, but can they keep that form until August...I doubt it. Peaking is an art form and they have a lot miles on those legs, but they'll be near top form.
@joyce26805 ай бұрын
@sandyacombs It seems as if the coaches would have learned from Abby on running the college athletes too much.
@MichaelJohnson-wk8tk6 ай бұрын
I agree with you about it being wide open. I'm thinking Norman, Norwood and Bailey with a time around 44.15 for the win. On the women's side Brown, Holmes and Effiong with the winner in the 49.4 range. Good luck to all of them.
@AllInTheGame016 ай бұрын
Kaylyn, Gabby & Alexis are my Top 3 even though I'm very tempted to pick one of Butler/Effiong but won't cos of their long NCAA Seasons. To that point, I think Kaylyn's higher ceiling will help see her through despite her long season, her & JaMeesia as 19yr olds give me shades of the 200/400m rivalry/dynamic between Sanya (Kaylyn) & Allyson (JaMeesia) :) Would be cool to see Brown (2), Effiong (4) & Whittaker (5) who all finished Top 5 in the NCAA 400m Final 2wks ago (and will be Arkansas teammates next yr) all make the Final. Norman, Bailey & Old Man Vern are also my Men's Team :) Will be tough, but rooting HARD for both baby Quincy Wilson & JaMeesia Ford to make their Finals & finish Top 6 as I want to see them both in at least the Mixed 4x4 Pool 🤞
@TheFinalLeg6 ай бұрын
Yea I think despite the long season, Kaylyn seems to have a bit of buffer in terms of time so I like her chances relative to the other college athletes. But Rosey could get on there. I think top 8 should be good to get athletes in the mixed relay pool so if they make the final they get a ticket to Paris. top 3 make the 400m team 4-6 are in the 4x4 pool 7-8 are in the mixed relay pool (2 from men, 2 from women). They may not run but they'll be in the pool (Shae Anderson was 8th at trials in 2021 and traveled to Tokyo but did not actually compete)
@AllInTheGame016 ай бұрын
@@TheFinalLeg I'm a little greedy as I wanna see them both run at least the semi of both the Mixed 4x4 and the other 4x4 before the big dawgs come in for the Final so they can both pick up 2 Medals each :) The Mixed 4x4 will continue to grow in stature despite what some still think of it esp if BAH really go for it in Paris with Shaunae, Gardiner, Wanya McCoy & Javonya Valcourt as I wanna see how NED, USA, GBR & JAM respond to that possible lineup who're really going for it!

@@AllInTheGame01 One wild card not mentioned is Shamier Little. She's not been in great form this year, but she is entered in both the 400m and 400mH at trials, maybe similar to Gabby to put her name in the hat for the relay team!
@AllInTheGame016 ай бұрын

Not sure how American Olympic trials work in terms of the overall team, but I didn't hear Sydney Mchaughlin's name in connection with the 400m. . . . . does she get a buy into the team or have I just thoroughly missed the news that she is going in the 400 hurdles again or is ruled out through injury. Forgive the ig!🙂

I’m not so confident about Norman, as you are. I think he’s been a bit disappointing overall. He’s had some highlights as you outlined but he just doesn’t seem as fast (his turnover) as in years past, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for him. I think one sleeper (maybe not top three but definitely for the relays) might be Ahmed Robinson from Texas A&M. He finished the year pretty strong and ran that amazing 43.2 (I think it was) anchor leg at the NCAAs.

Man, you are not paying attention at ALL. You left off Little? Have you been paying attention to the 400 meters? Note the recent race. kzbin.info/www/bejne/faSvpoKwoJejerM. Look at the field she was in? From the 8th lane. She will be in the top 3. Also Jamessia Ford. She is a 400 runner, but her coaches focused her on the 200 meters, but she anchored the 4 by 400 meters for SC. Every race she would have to play catch up and was posting some insane split times.
