Michael Nunn was undeniably a beautifully crafty boxer with tons of natural ability. But you can never take your eyes off Barkley who always remains extremely dangerous. Al Berstein was always my favorite commentator. He knows the sport and he follows the action punch for punch. What a terrific fight. Thanks for posting!

Nunn said Barkley was HUGE and STRONG and he was fortunate to get the win. This was a tough era. Today's guys won't get in the ring and FIGHT EACH OTHER. It's a shame.

Nunn wasn't truly great. He had natural talent, but not the intangibles that a Leonard had. I could NEVER see Nunn coming back from something like Ray did in the 1st Hearns fight. He'd also never get knocked out the way Nunn did against Toney (while being stupid and clowning a little)

Michael Nunn was a true testimony of God Almighty's creation!! He embodied the G.O.A.T namely Mohamed Ali Sugar Ray Leonard and Sugar Ray Robinson. He was blessed with a baby face that carrys awesome power with lightning speed on both legs and hands. I want to cry for those good old days where boxing was a religion.

Impressive win for Nunn,artistic dissection of Barkley. The problem that everybody else had with this fight was they were expecting another dynamic KO after the fight he had previous to this one. Nunn obviously wanted to employ a different strategy which involved superb boxing skills and showing the other fighter that he's willing to stand and slug on occasions and Nunn was very successful in doing both in this fight with Barkley.

Who do you think would jave won between Michael Nunn and Mike McCallum?.And Middleweight or/and Super middleweight?
@yuljohnson8475 жыл бұрын
I have always had that dream match in mind. Either weight i think Michael Nunn would have handely won, Mike Macillum fought alot of great fighters and was a great fighter himself but with Nunn's reach and height advantages and quick hands i think would've gave Nunn the edge.

Why does any of this matter? Nunn doesnt count.....Barkley will be remembered better than Nunn!!! Master choke artist.

Nunn was a great boxer puncher and barkley was a great puncher and people still talk about both so i think they've both been missed equally as much. And Nunn definitely counts cause when Toney knocked him out that's what made Toney the fighter of the year in 1991 signifing the fact that Toney knocked out a very notable middleweight.

The judge who submitted that 114-114 scorecard requires an eye test examination because no way that could be remotely considered a one third draw, especially with the other 2 judges accurately scoring in favour of Nunn. Nunn bossed that fight from start to finish as I have no idea why the attendees were questioning Nunn's style. He was a slick and smooth boxer like Ray Leonard who did entertain but sadly those ignoramuses cannot appreciate a fine skilful boxer when they see one.
@SPIDERM0OSE4 жыл бұрын
Skills only count if they are doing damage to an opponent. "The Blade" Barkley's defensive skills weren't as refined as Nunns but his attacking skills were superior. You are an ignoramus if you cant appreciate the toughness, stamina, skill, courage & fitness it requires to pressure a fighter of Michael Nunns quality the way Barkley did. Barkley was a medalist at the amateur world championships & finished his professional career as a 3 weight world champion but you are talking about him like hes some German bum. Show some respect. Boxing isnt an art it is a science, the very best like Sugar Ray Leonard or Michael Nunn make it look artful but before then it is always primarily a fight, a war between the will & skill of two evenly matched men.

@@SPIDERM0OSE. If Nunn’s punches were effective, Barkley would’ve ran right through him. Nunn landed more punches. Evenly matched my ass. Nunn beat him at his own game. He could’ve easily maintained ring generalship, by using his jab more.
