When you think how Kalambay beat both Mike McCallum (first fight for the vacant WBA Middleweight Title) and Herol Graham (a British world-class middleweight)it shows what a tremendous performance this was by Michael Nunn. Of course, he came unstuck against James Toney a fight or two later, but that takes nothing away from his performance here, as Toney is another Hall Of Famer and an all-time great of boxing. Brutal, but, compulsive viewing - thanks for uploading.

Hello, I'm Thai. I remember watching this fight live on TV at my dad's house in Trang in southern Thailand. I wasn't even 10 years old at the time. Michael Nunn was one of my favorite boxers as a kid.

Kalambay was a super durable guy who beat a lot of top guys including the great Mike Mcallum. A 1st round ko from a supposedly light hitting flashy boxer in Nunn was not on the cards at all and I doubt many gamblers had that on their betting slip. Great punch.

I’d have had this near the top of my on my “Fights Least likely to end in a 1st round KO” list. Both of these guys were excellent boxers! I can recall when Kalambay beat Mike McCallum, that’s an attention-getting win right there. And Nunn, I know he got into trouble…damn, what a fighter! He was beating Toney iirc before Toney caught him late, that was Nunn’s first loss; there should've been a Zale-Graziano-like series between those two, and then adding Roy jines later…damn that’s such a frustrating part of boxing history, all those “what if?”’s and “should’ve happened”’s.

Timed that jab perfectly. Kalambay throws a jab, Nunn just steps out at the same time outside the lead foot where he's safe from a potential two coming in and where the orthodox fighter has no way to defend himself and that's all she wrote!

He was never beating the count on that one. Caught cold fully flush on the jaw.

Kalambay didn't match up well against Nunn. Tremendous reach advantage plus the southpaw style . Momentary loss of concentration led to this sudden ending. The winner took full advantage.

He was very good. He kind of reminded me of a young Ali.

His shorts were too heavy, they spiked his water, the opponents gloves were in the wrong position, they stopped the fight too early, the ref was biased, some sort of heavy egg shaped object was slipped into his gloves, his trainer plotted against him ...
