Hey guys! I'm really glad that i finally got to sing this for you to hear - this is one of my all time favourite songs. It was one of the very first songs i ever remember really 'singing' and loving... It's a song with so much pure emotion that it's hard not to get lost in it while you're playing.. The songwriting is absolutely stunning..
I've had the privilege of working with the writer of this song in many different forums. I've written many great songs with the amazing Phil Buckle, Ross Fraser is my incredible A&R manager at Sony and of course i've had the absolute HONOUR of touring with John around Australia.
I really hope you enjoy this one! My studio iMac won't tilt down any further - sorry! Yes I'm playing a digital piano under there ;)

I love the way you lean in towards the piano feeling every note. Well done. I stumbled across you as a performer when I was watching Icehouse perform via KZbin at the Roche Estate, Hunter Valley Concert in 2017, man, that was the best I've ever heard Icehouse sound. The highlight for me was you performing "Man of Colours" along side Iva & the rest of the band. This is absolutely outstanding, Michael. Don't get low in composition, and you'll be always on top. Just remember: don't fall for easy-radio friendly songs, aim for top-notch quality in composition. Mr. Farnham himself has done it, surrounding himself with no less than the best quality and composers (Phil Bucle comes to mind...) DO NOT fall into the teen-kind of artist, please!!

Michael Paynter. If you had done this, just as it is, with the piano, held back, with a controlled upper register, plantiff notes filled with feeling and not worried so much about your nerves you would still be in The Voice. You should have played the piano and done a ballad. This is absolutely beautiful and note perfect. Very sad you are not still in the competition and I blame Joel Madden for that.

This is what gets to me about the Australian Music Industry, when talent like Mr. Paynter is convinced that a crap reality show is going to relaunch their careers after being let down by their record company, it may give you another few minutes in the spotlight but is rarely going to make you a stayer let alone get the respect of your music peers comes awards season.
