As a Washington Huskies fan, I'll say that Michael Penix, Jr was really a revelation up at UW. He came in and took a team that went 4-8 before he got there to the Alamo Bowl the first year and the freaking National Championship game the next year! Whatever team picks up Michael Penix, Jr is going to get a real gem of a QB. The injuries are worrying, but if he stays healthy he will be a great QB.

I am SICK Washington gave Seattle Sam Howell for pennies. Watch Howell is going to go there and beat Gino in the offseason. Howell was done dirty by Ron and Eric Beinemy. They gave him no help on the offensive line. Then they passed the ball 40+ times a game. That’s a recipe for disaster for a first year starter. Eric refused to run the football. Brain Robison and Gibson both averaged over 4 yards a carry just Eric was too stupid to realize that all he wanted to do was pass the ball and let Sam get crushed behind that horrid o line. Even with all those bad things going against Howell. he lead the league in passing for a majority of the year. Until the last 3-5 game he was passed in amount of passing yards.

My issue with Penix Jr isn't his age, injury issues or his limited experience as a starter - it's the fact he dominated because of the talent around him and a coach who put him in a position to succeed. It's the Burrow Conundrum except he didn't do it in the SEC, he did it in the PAC-12 and when we saw him against NFL talent who took away some of those strengths - he struggled immensely. Penix was not the same man in Indiana and despite the magic in a bottle that was 22 and 23 at Washington I'd be straight up terrified he'll just be turbo ass without the right coaching situation in the NFL.

@@jameswinslow8540You must have not watched a lot of his games. He throws absolute dimes downfield. And anyone can throw a jump ball and they’re usually not successful no matter how great the receiver. But Penix throws an incredible jump ball where he throws his receiver open. Not just a 50 50 ball, he puts it where his guy has a great chance to catch it. And he has an incredibly accurate long out route pass, which is unstoppable if you can consistently do that. If you watched most of his games I think you would realize he’s more pro ready than almost any other college qb, bc his throws are to guys who are barely open which is how it will be in the nfl. Most other top qbs are throwing to receivers that are wide open and it will not be like that in the nfl. One thing a lot of qbs struggle with when transitioning to the nfl is facing the speed of the game head on not being afraid and willing to make mistakes but always fighting to succeed. Trubisky had a lot of potential but never really developed the mentality needed for the league. Id say jj mccarthy is another one to worry about developing since he never really seemed like someone to push his teammates or try and take a game over. If hes content with a gane manager role it will limit him and i dont see penix willing to limit himself to that role

I've been a big fan of him since this whole draft process kicked off. He just has that special something. Sure there are plenty of knocks: his age, his injury history, his lack of value on the ground, but man the throws he makes on the daily are incredible. Just because athletic QBs have become a big thing in the NFL doesn't mean there isn't a place for guys who can slice and dice you from the pocket. To me his pro comps would be Ryan Tannehill (low) and Matthew Stafford (high). Starting to become pretty clear that there is very little chance he doesn't end up a first rounder. I see JJ McCarthy going to DEN. You heard it here first. I'm a Bears fan by the way.

ALL I know is that out of all of the QBs I watched play last year, he was the most "Polished".

Wanted penix to be our qb the entire college season. Best qb on the field every single game

Great quarterback, elite arm strength and showed elite Athleticism at his pro day. But he's got some issues. He's super aggressive. Especially with the deep ball. Dude rips it downfield whenever he has the chance. He often struggles with ball placement. But he's still got tremendous upside.

The Seahawks also hired Ryan Grubb to be the new OC and he was the OC at UW when Penix played there

Injury history and age be damned... Penix has been my QB2 in this draft for months. Give him a decent line and a few weapons and he will excel. Made some of the most tight window, downfield throws I saw all year in college ball and he throws a beautiful ball and has plenty of arm strength.

Best QB in the draft.

I really hope he goes to Seattle, I think that is Seattle’s idea as well. His old OC, Ryan Grubb, is now in Seattle, and I think it would be a great fit for Seattle, you have 2 great receivers in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, a good running game with K9. I think he would really do great there.

If I were Sean Peyton, Penix is the guy I'm drafting. Let him sit get some WR's in later rounds. Peyton could possibly play it like he "loves" Mccarthy, trade down gain a 2nd (and possibly 3rd).

Calling it now, he’ll be the steal of the draft, possibly even the CJ Stroud of this draft

I'm telling you right now, if we get Penix I am buying his jersey!

I don't see him panning out at the next level. It's unfortunate, because he seems like a great guy and he's fun to watch.

Love your assessment on my boy Penix! However, it’s the University of Washington in Seattle. Washington University is in St. Louis.
