i work for a japanese company and I ask my boss about micheal phelps and he said that micheal was the greatest usa is known for swimming i mentioned ryan lochte and nathan and he had no idea who they were but he talked about micheal like he was the greatest and that america should be proud to have him represent our country

He had 3 races where he could have lost a gold, the 4x100 freestyle, the 100m fly and the 200m fly where his gogles filled with water but he won them, incredible. The relay was incredible phelps owes lezak a gold i dont think if he would have been the anchor he could have swam in 46 flat (a second faster than the wr at that time) and the other 2 races just pure magic specially the 100m fly, he did the same thing in athens although i think the athens was even more incredible

Phelps is maybe the greatest all-around swimmer, but others have had better Olympic records. Alexander Karelin - Four Olympics, four events, 3 gold and 1 silver. All individual. Naim Suleymonoglu - Three Olympics, three events, 3 gold medals. All individual. Greg Louganis - Three Olympics, five events, 4 gold and 1 silver. All individual. Pyrros Dimas - Four Olympics, four events, 3 gold and 1 bronze. All individual. I also believe gymnastics is the hardest sport.
