@@henrytheswimmer9453you know that lochte beats phelps almost every time in 200im right ???

Althought many argue MP‘s 100m butterfly in 2008 is the greatest swimming race of all time, I believe this one is. ・The first WR after super swimimng suits. ・The GOAT MP was also pushed by Lochte to make his personal best time in 200 IM. ・The WR still stands after Leon Marchand's Paris 2024.

phelps did have BIG physical advantages similar to LeBron for their respective sports, and thats why i have SO MUCH respect for Lochte. Lochte is the undisputed goat if phelps isnt there or heck if phelps had the same body as lochte. Love them both

In the entire History of the Olympic Games, in Men's Swimming at the Olympic Games, the 50 and 100 meter Freestyle distances at one single Olympics, only Three won, Matt Biondi (Seoul 1988), Caleb Dressel (Tokyo 2020), Alexander Popov (Barcelona 1992) (Atlanta 1996). but Popov did it on Dressel and Biondi's home territory, in their homeland.

In the entire History of the Olympic Games, in the Men's Butterfly Swimming, all Individual Gold medals in the Butterfly at one single Olympics were won only by Three, Mark Spitz (Munich 1972), Denis Pankratov (Atlanta 1996) and Michael Phelps (Athens 2004) (Beijing 2008). but Pankratov did it in the homeland of Phelps and Mark Spitz.

I'm sure of phelps had 5 more meters he would've won but this may be the most aggressive race of lochte's career!
@tromboneJTS Жыл бұрын
It is 200 m not 205 m. Also, not an aggressive swim. They were basically matched the whole race.
@australiancreepycrawlies6417Ай бұрын
Exactly, it was a 200m race that Lochte paced perfectly to win, running on fumes in those last 3 metres. And phelps lost the 200m race.

You have to wonder though how fast Phelps could have swum this event if he was more motivated in training because he openly talks about how bad the period before London was for him (constantly missing practises etc).

But did he catch him? Or rather, did lochte pace that race optimally for him to win in a WR?
