Highschool was the absolute worst. The whole time I felt like I just wanted REST. Every time you think you had at least a little time to rest, you were punished for it. It was non-stop at my school, every single day was just full blast until the Christmas holidays which was our only rest time the whole year. I did advanced subjects in Yr10 as well as two early Yr11 subjects so I wasn't exactly behind to say the least. Even then, I felt like I wanted to quit math not even a month into Yr10. Our teacher had the attitude of "You're young and dumb so i don't really care. If you get high scores, congratulations you're human". What this basically translated to was him threatening to contact students parents (and delivering on that) if they asked for help, either that or he would bring the person to the front of the class and deliberately try and make a fool of them by getting them to fully work out the problem they were asking for help with and if the person couldn't do it (no shit) he would go "Now unlike Mr/Miss [insert name] could someone brighter who was listening solve this problem?" (In case you can't tell, this one personally happened to me). At the end of Term 1, we had to do a test and it was absurdly hard. The day we get back in Term 2 he briefs us on how the class did. He then makes a speech about how well the majority of the class did and how sadly there were a few lazy slackers who were bringing everyone else down by not doing their work. Of course at this point, everyone already had their scores. He then leaves the room to go grab some paperwork. A legend up the back says "PUT YOUR HAND UP IF YOU ACTUALLY PASSED?!" and no kidding only 1 person did. 1 person passed. He deliberately tried to make it seem like only a few did bad so that everyone would feel like shit over their scores. By the end of the year, he flat out gave up on teaching the class and would only really teach his favourite students or the ones who did the best on tests or perhaps the ones that got his boner raging the hardest as well. Yeah fuck that guy. Never got punished either. Our school had a mental health area where you could go to for counseling and work adjustments etc... but it had such a bad reputation that all the students unanimously hated it. If you went to them for a problem, they would give you the same spiel as they did the last person about how much they cared but never actually did anything except in the most stringent cases where they would alter your work schedule for assignments and tests. Best part was, even if you openly said that you wanted it to be confidential and they agreed, the staff would gossip to the other teachers during their lunch break about everything you talked about. Either that, or they would email all your teachers about the details of the conversation without saying they were going to in the first place. We had a girl come there for extreme stress and the next thing she new, random teachers and substitutes were going up to her and making remarks about her problems like it was nothing. Students would prefer to skip periods entirely so that they could be alone for a while rather than go to the counselors. I had to go there once (forced to) and the counselor basically made it his mission to be as creepy and invasive as humanly possible. Not only that, but the guy also tried to make me feel like crap over my life and make me feel like I was this small and helpless little creature that didn't know any better and needed his "adult guidance" to get through it. I walked out of there feeling more disgusted and bitter than when I entered.

I'm currently in year 8 right now and I'm in the aspirational class (which here at my school is 2 special classes for years 7 and 8 for students who wanted to try extra hard on their learning so basically it's the smart kid class) and while I'm naturally smart like when put up to American grades I'm a straight B student with occasional A's and C's but all the other kids in my class are SUPER smart like 90 % on all their tests, so right now I'm under a lot of pressure. Being the 'dumb' kid. We're about the start the half yearly tests which are the most important ones and basically make up what decides which classes you go to in year 9. So I'm freaking out and have no clue what to do, the only thing keeping me from cracking under the pressure is the mindset that it's not important to adult life and I shouldn't care. And trying to pretend it's not their. I have never failed or not passed a test or exam/assignment. Students can be pretty mean. There was this English teacher I had that got cancer in the latter half of the year and the staff was suggesting to her kids to write letters to her. They weren't outright disrespectful but lets just say they were happy she wasn't teaching. My pre-cal teacher's first job was at this highly dense and underbudgeted school and the students just gave no shits whatsoever and a lot just talked over her/flat out ignored her. She felt so overwhelmed by it that she quit the first day. I also had a jr. High history teacher whose blood pressure was getting so high teaching that she had to leave for a Dr visit in the middle of the day and was gone for the afternoon. Flunk school if you want guys, but being rude to you're teachers is pretty shitty to do. They can be mean or ill-intentioned but remember that no one teaches your typical public school for the money alone. Maybe job security and retirement, but most rude old math and English teachers started out wanting to get kids engaged. It can be a very soul crushing job if you let it be. Not to mention a lot of bright ideas my teachers had either got squandered because of pressure to stick to a certain curriculum or use certain books or not being able to execute it practically. Not to say to take any abuse. Report that shit. But please don't be a dick to someone who's just trying to do their job.

I happened to have all the best Spanish teachers. Our high school was split into halves for the most part, and those halves were split further into 5 classes and 4 classes, so you'd have the same teacher as one of the other halves classes, but a different one to the other 3/4 of your own half. Anyway I just somehow ended up with some really great Spanish teachers. I don't remember the earliest ones, but I do remember there being a teacher I liked, followed by a teacher that was basically the same as that one teaching and personality wise but younger and more attractive, so I enjoyed the lessons as well as being taught well. then she left and everyone was super sad but we got a male teacher after that who was just great at pushing everyone to be their best. He was so good that he got promoted to one of the deputy heads like a year after he joined the school and he ran a bunch of extra stuff for the smart kids to help you get a better CV or whatever (I was part of that but also don't think it's impressive enough to be on a CV) I have so many fond memories of high school, which is a relief because overall it was trash and I hated it thanks to mostly the social aspects, but then also 6th form years the quality of teaching dropped hard and everything was just miserable.

Substitute teacher broke a giant beaker on me, and blamed it on me, science teacher told me the fossil i brought in wasn’t real and like basically told me it was and it is not, I was very interested in geology as a kid. I deserved this one but I kept saying man and then correcting to me for one of my teachers in a class one day, (trying to keep myself up because my grandma who taught me how to tie my shoes and blow my nose, and who was one of the only people I had considered a friend had recently died) and he got so mad at me for the mam/mr bit and sent me out in front of the class room and i day there and balled out crying. Got some other stories to but I ain’t sharing the rest.

I actually did a similar thing in high school, where during our final, I had cheated when I had gone to the restroom and looked up the answer to the prompt or something along those lines. Now, I hadn't actually done something like that before, and I felt really bad about it, so when my friends and I were hanging out in the library during either free period or lunch, I had basically told them when there was another teacher there. Of course, I was completely aware that they were there, although I wasn't sure if they were listening to the conversation. Luckily, they were, and we went to go report what I had done to the administration. At the time, I had a very good record of being relatively forthcoming about everything, as well as being a generally good student, so I didn't actually face that many punishments. After giving a formal apology to my english teacher and probably ruining his trust in students for a while, he decided to be lenient on me, and only made that individual test prompt a 0 instead of failing me. Because of that, I managed to get a final grade of a C in his class, and I will never forget his kindness, in spite of my horrible ethics in that moment. This was a really hard thing to admit in front of a teacher, let alone admin, and I didn't feel compelled enough to go and do it myself, which is a trait that I deeply resent and wish I could have overcome in that moment; however, I am glad that I was able to face the consequences of my actions, as I would very likely still feel incredibly guilty to this day if I had not come forward at all or be escorted to do the same.

during my senior year of high school, i had an older Romanian woman as my physics teacher. she’s one of the most blunt human beings i’ve ever met. she called kids useless, asked if they were mentally deficient, and openly expressed her hatred for some of the kids in the school (not even the ones in our class). she was a very intelligent woman but she made learning physics so god awful for everyone in the class. if it wasn’t for the fact that i had an interest in the subject, i wouldn’t have even tried. a teacher and the way they approach the subject can make or break if a kid is willing to excel/even try in a subject. even if it’s not something you want to learn/need to use in the future, there’s a lot to be said about teachers that put the effort in to at least make it enjoyable. some of my favorite classes from high school have absolutely nothing to do with what i’m majoring in right now, but i still feel like i got a lot out of it. and that’s because those teachers understood that not everyone is skilled or interested in every subject, so they adapted the class to be fulfilling for everyone.

one of my teachers in fifth grade used to do something similar to what micheals science teacher did which was he would go around both of the fifth grade classrooms on friday and say who was failing to everyone and who had an A and the kids who were failing just stayed inside but the kids who weren't went outside against the schools rules. I feel better though because he almost got fired for hitting a kid and now doesn't do that to the younger kids.

Michaels bullied teacher reminds me of my English teacher I had a year ago. Someone commented about her (I don’t remember what) and she got so mad she yelled “I will not be bullied in my own classroom!” For context she had her own classroom but for last period (our class) she would teach in a different room. So we all said “this isn’t your classroom though?” She cried, ran out of the classroom, and had someone else teach the class. Boy did we get a talking to...😬 Edit: Looking back I feel bad for her because she was nice and genuinely enjoyed her job. Hope she’s doing okay now

I remember when I was in 7th grade we had a student teacher who was pretty friendly, I guess. I had a headache during one of her lectures so I kept slouching as to rest my head on the chair. She kept asking questions and no was smart enough (or maybe they were shy) to answer and everytime we made eye contact she'd ask me to answer. So, I had to answer 5 questions consecutively and that meant standing up and adding more levels of pain to the headache. So for the last questions she asked, which was to give an example sentence, I said; "Sometimes, people in pink look stupid to me." The teacher's uniform was pink so I just had to say it. Like, take a hint. I'm dying from this headache here. (I didn't actually say that I had a headache at first coz I thought she'd send me home or something) I feel so bad. Coz she cried and gave a speech like, "so you're trying to say that what I'm teaching is stupid? Do you like want to take over the class?" And so on. I did say sorry and stuff. She was a cool teacher to be honest. The headache just got to me.

I had a substitute that was such a heavy preacher that he took the hole 2 hours to explain to us how free will is a sin and it’s the devils work. Now my friends and I are atheist so we were just chatting shit most of the time and we weren’t getting noticed. I was also pissed of because some kid took my seat. Half way through I asked him shouldn’t we be studying for our math final which was a week away. He strait up shot me down and told me to shut up, I then proceeded to say “fuck you” and flipped him off. At the end he asked me for my name, I gave him a false one. A year later now in high school I saw him again. But this time he picked on one of my friends for not coming back, (she has adhd so she couldn’t focus really well) anyway, when she returned he asked what her name means, it was Anhalise (which I think means angelic). He responded this exactly “So if it means angelic why weren’t you angelic because you didn’t show up to class.” She started to cry, and I got pissed of even more now but I said to him “You may not remember me but I’m the guy who said fuck you, and I’ll do again” I then flipped him off and left class to go help my friend. I know it’s a long story and probably no one will see this but it’s still funny to me.

i used to ask teachers all the time when i was younger "why do i need to know this." the sad part was that they always said "for the exam". which made everything seem very pointless to me. especially when i consider exams to be exceptionally pointless. a few subjects is going to decide your ability to get into further education, which has nothing to do with what you where graded in. the worst part is that the subject is question is picked at fucking random so you have the potential to get the subject your the worst in. removing your ability to display what you really can do. also considering the teachers has been grading you since forever, how come 1 fucking exam is going to decide if i am qualified or not after all this time. exams imo should be a choice, as well as for what you will be graded in.

There is this one english teacher I had in highschool ( I'm french canadian). After speaking with all the friends I was in HS with, I realised, they all hated him. Because, he was always asking the students to speak english in his class. Same thing with two other teacher I had and that I still respect to this day had the same issue with the kids. One was a teacher specialised in teaching modern society. And things like how to find reliable sources on internet and stuff like that. The guy was a lovely teacher he freaking reserved the computer lab for the whole year and we badically had like 5 works to do in the whole year. And the last one was my science teacher. I was the science fan in my classroom. And one day the teacher comes to my desk and ask to see the work i've done ( I was sleeping) naturally I get the paper out. Gives me back the paper and tells me that if I want he can find me some university books to read. I said no. Now that I think about it. Maybe he saw that on the page about the moleculat state ( liquid, solid and gas) I wrote " they forgot about plasma". I had some lovely teacher and I don't know why but my friends still hate them and we've been out of school for 8 years now. I wish I was still in HS.
